ianajmes: You say you are particularly interested in Premier League and European comps in football in which case you could be well served by Apple TV as Spark Sport will have Premier League and will have an app for Apple TV very soon and Fan pass is already available and I assume they will have Champions league on SkySport.

This is a great point and with Fan Pass I can watch the other NZ sports teams as well. Would be good if Sky brought out an on demand app for sports as well!

They have one, Sky Go. All sports channels

Sky Go isn't on demand is it, it is just the sky channels streaming?

It's also mobile only - no casting or AirPlay I believe.

They already have fanpass which is probably as good as you're going to get.

Yea but Fanpass is not on demand though, is it? 🤞 hopefully that changes if it's not

SkyGo is streaming and OD, it has OD, sports, boxed sets, catchup, etc, quite a few Sky channels

Scrolling down Sports OD, there is a lot there

Fanpass is 59, or 39 for 6 months? If you got Sky with the cheap Sky box thats I think 55 for Starter and Sport, and SkyGo

Sky Go isn't on Apple TV, and no way to get it there.  Fanpass is the current only allowed way of getting Sky Content on an Apple TV

My set-up.

No Sky dish, no UHF aerial on the house.

ATV4k with the following apps.

Local apps & non georestricted:

Youtube, TVNZ, Three, Lightbox (Netflix, Prime TV)

Overseas Apps through a DNS service:

All4, BBC, ITV, SBS, ABC, Seven, Nine, Ten & Kayo

Equals more than enough entertainment choice for my wife and I. I'm not even currently subscribed to Netflix or Prime TV as I found I wasn't using them but I do subscribe occasionally for a month at a time to binge something that I'm interested in. The only thing missing from above is English Premier League. For this you could use Fanpass but if you're going to use a DNS service for overseas content then Optus Sport from Aus is better value.

Do you get all those overseas ones and the NZ ones without having to change DNS settings between?

I found when I had DNS4Me setup on mine, the NZ On Demand apps wouldn't work very well. TV3 I think had real issues loading up at full resolution (though, that may have been TVNZ, I can't remember accurately).

Easy to create you own DNS server that only forwards as necessary to DNS4ME, the other traffic forwarded to your ISP DNS or where ever by default.

Yes, with the exception of channel Ten. If you look in detail at the DNS4Me services in the user console it will tell you which services conflict with other. If I enable Ten then it conflicts with the local on demand content so I only enable it when I want to watch something and disable it after. Luckily there's not much content I want to watch on Ten.

For those that have an Apple TV does the plex app and the sky sport app (for the rugby World Cup) not require casting?
These would be our two main uses for it at this stage and I really don’t want to have to cast from another device in order to watch something on the tv.
Thanks

I’m thinking you mean Spark Sport app?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
