Seriously considered this, but with ECG and LTE missing.. Feeling a bit short changed.

Next year should be interesting if this year was anything to go by. The S3 price is very decent. Hopefully the S4 replaces the S3 at half the price. That'd be a quick and easy upgrade!

Same here, I'm hoping the the S4 price goes down a bit since I'm looking at upgrading from my S2 😃

S4 is out of production now, once the remaining stock is gone there will be no more.

If I buy an Apple Watch from Australia and bring it back to NZ. Will Apple cover it via warranty? (GPS version, not LTE)?

I'm heading over next week and it may be advantageous for me to get one there, but not at the risk of not having a warranty.

I ordered a S5 and will get it next Tuesday. Looking forward to the upgrade.

@jen1001 - I will have a S3 if you're interested in a bit of a bump (when I get my S5). It is still in pretty-much perfect condition with box, some additional straps etc.

Make sure you keep the receipt and you should be fine with the GPS version for at least 2 years. You will be SOL if you grab an LTE model though.

Thanks @michaelmurfy! I'll definitely get in touch if I decide to go ahead with the upgrade :)

The iPhone has an international warranty, whereas the Watch does not. Something to bear in mind. However, I did the same as I'm over there often enough that it wouldn't really matter.

Come on Spark, you all ready have eSIM working so support Apple Watch LTE already. Until this happens I won’t be budging from my series 4.

This requires number sharing to be turned on. There is quite a bit of work to do this but it was expected to happen in the last quarter of this year. So watch this space. Nothing officially on it though.

This is not really correct. There are any number of iPhones that can be serviced in some countries but not others but, apart from the LTE watches, almost all of the watch models can be service in an country the watches can be purchased. As I said earlier, as long as you keep the receipt, or purchased the watch from an Apple Store, you should have few issues with getting a watch (or iPhone) serviced in New Zealand, although you may be restricted to taking a device into a store to get it fixed.

I just got off the phone with Apple support - they confirmed that if I buy the Edition in titanium in Brisbane and bring it back to NZ that AppleCare+ will be honoured. I’m an ex Apple employee, and suspected this would be the case...but I wanted to be sure! Email confirmation of the discussion is en route and I’ll copy it to here when I get it.

You definitely want to get that in writing. The Apple Watch Edition is cellular and unless things have changed with the Series 5 then cellular models are only serviceable in countries they are available in, so not NZ.

Yup, as an ex fruit employee, I’m well aware. It’s tempting to take the risk, but potentially expensive.

On reflection, the risk wasn’t worth it. Just ordered the 44mm Nike in silver with the white velcro. If cellular appears later I’ll upgrade :)

This was a very wise decision. I am sure that the AC+ would have been honoured... as soon as you got the watch back to Australia... cos it sure would not be serviceable here.

Perhaps. There was a tone in the conversation which almost suggested to me that Edition buyers got a little more leeway; in saying that, when I worked for Apple what someone spent didn’t dictate the quality of service they got. I’ll enjoy this one and upgrade when cellular is finally an option.

I work with someone with an Hermes edition. It had to be sent to Australia to be serviced as they just don't have the parts/replacements for anything other than the standard GPS watches here in NZ.

Was it a senior advisor that told you it would be ok or just a frontline grunt?
