I tend to go to both ends in my deliberation - either the Mini or the Pro Max! Mind you the Pro Max hitting $3,000 for the 1TB version is getting ridiculous - I could buy a nice MB Air and have change for that much!

Sure the 1TB Pro Max is expensive, but it doesn't sound like you are the target market (me neither). Filming in ProRes would be a main reason, and if you are doing that (in any commercial capacity) the iPhone would be very cost competitive with alternative camera and storage setups - and a lot more flexible etc. It isn't competing with a MacBook Air.

Is it just me or is the SE getting less “budget” now?

Based on the offical pricing:
iPhone SE NZ$749
iPhone 11 NZ$899

For $150 more, you are getting a much bigger and better screen, much better battery life, better cameras, Face ID (although some people like Touch ID) etc… I’m not saying the SE is a bad phone but the price needs to be lower, ideally around $550.

Anyway I’m really excited to get the new 13 mini because I loved my old 12 mini so much. The size is perfect for me. The new blue colour is nice but I will probably get the boring black lol.

Linux: No AOD what a joke!!

I'm quite happily upgrading from my Huawei P30 Pro with AOD for exotic features like regular software updates.

We still wont be upgrading our venerable iPhone7 x 2, iPad6, iPad Mini5 until either  stops upgrading the OS and or App's becomes very slow or non-upgradable or the devices are broken. To upgrade for upgrade sake has never been our thing, besides we are not 'Richie Rich'.

If I was you I'd be looking to upgrade one of the phones just so I we wouldn't be up for two new phones in one year. We have my wife's phone and mine on a tick-tock cycle. She gets a new phone one year, I get a new one the next year.

Saying that it was my year for a new phone last year and she got an iPhone 12 and I got handed down her Huawei P30 Pro.

True. Mind you, I worked as a professional photographer for many years and I'd never have dreamt of shooting client work on a phone.

My current iPhone 11 Pro Max is 256 and only has 80GB used after 2 years.

The iPhone 13 Pro LTPO display can only go as low as 10Hz where the Watch can go as low as 1Hz.

I think that’s the reason why the always on feature is still not an option this year.

I saw that they also scrubbed the 256GB version, sounds like they are running the channel down ahead of either being refreshed or dropped

Those with a Pro Max iPhone, how do you find the bigger size?
Not too annoying?

I've got a Xr that's about 3 years old and thinking I might replace it with a 13 Pro Max.
I'd like a bigger screen but not sure if the Max will be too big.

It's not just the size you have to worry about, it's the weight.

My XS Max is 200g which feels very heavy, and the 13 Pro is about the same. The 13 Pro Max adds another 40g which is starting to get impractical if you want to carry it in your pocket.

I agree. One of the things I hate about my P30 Pro is the weight. 192 grams is too for me. My wife iPhone 12 is much nicer to hold at 164 grams.

It's a hard line to walk - a big battery is heavy but makes the phone more practical

The design sure is getting dated (got dated about 3 years ago). Why are they sticking to it so stringintly? Probably one of the most boring phones to look at and hold of any of the top brands.
