Just found out why I couldn't do it. I searched error 13 and some sites told me that you cant install this from a windows based computer since the SDK is only available for OSX. -__- this is a nasty move on apples part but what can you do. Need to find a mac then. Do you think JBHIFI will mind if i rocked up with my external HD and iPod and used one of their macs to do it? lol

You even need a copy of xcode (iphone SDK) to install the firmware. I guess they got annoyed that thousands of non developers were installing 3.0

Yes they would mind, as the SDK installer updates several system components (iTunes, Xcode).

It's also a big giant violation of the NDA - you'd be putting the Beta SDK on a public machine.  Ouch!
