I'm still stunned to hear that Paul used to be a reporter! The rumours were that he was many things in the past, most of which can't be mentioned in a family environment such as Geek Zone.

So, Paul...is it fair to say that you have had a particularly hard week (considering it's only Monday)?

These are the weeks where you earn your money.

Fortunately my short-term memory is shot so it's already a dim distant rumble.

What do I need to do to for a short-term memory like that?  Hmmmm maybe that's not a discussion to be entered into here...

Quick update:
I took the phone back to the Vodafone store on Queen Street and the rep I spoke with phoned the service company who represents Apple.
The service company said they stock a number of phones for this very reason (not clear whether they are new or refurbished)
The end result is that I should have a replacement phone back with me in 3-4 days.
Apparently, it was the second phone that the Queen Street store has had back (the other was a problem with the home button not working)

Yes that would be pretty annoying given that it's the only physical button controlling the OS LOL.

Glad to hear that you will hopefully have some resolution soon on your matter Matt.

Also good to hear that (unlike what I originally suspected) there sounds like there are some phones on-hand just to cover for OOB failures which do happen regardless of how good QC is.

So pay isn't linked to performance at Vodafone?

Great news - I have just sent my iphone4 away for a DOA replacement as the microphone does not work. I have been advised that they do have stock to cover this so should take around 3-4 working days + courier time. Seems like they have allocated some stock for this which is good news that VF has prepared for this type of problem.

I would say thats Apple who were prepared for this rather than VF? (seeing as the phone goes back to apple for review)

If I find out they paid you for the last week,  I'm not going to be very happy.

Dude, chill, just because he didn't communicate in forum doesn't mean he is not sorting it out. Remember he works for vodafone, not for geekzone...

for those who don't know about Paul's history, or missed the memo, here's Juha's blog post about Paul Brislen leaving Computerworld. Don't mind the second picture...
