If you need to remote desktop to your PC, you could try iTeleport. No more ssh tunneling for a VNC connection - using Google talk you can simply slip though your/your work's firewall .... But in a secure https way, of course

Also check out the following site:

http://appshopper.com/ipad/

It shows info about new apps, and more importantly, which apps are on sale.  It gets updated daily, and that's the frequency I check it.  Some apps are only on sale for a day so be quick.

If anyone knows of any other sites like this, post them up!

Oh, and it also covers iPhone apps too...

AirVideo player (of course!) for media streaming.

Off and NetAwake for remote activation and sleep control of my machines.

Goodreader for PDF viewing.

Reeder for rss feeding (I prefer to Early edition).

Instapaper for offline reading of web content.

Satch: Also check out the following site:

That was a great link... can't believe how many apps I've downloaded. If only I could put them into folders like on the ipad touch. Will they end up like browser bookmarks where they're installed and never used again?

Apps I like & actually use

  • flipboard - how twitter and facebook are meant to be - just amazing

  • friendly facebook - but still haven't found a tool that will let me manage my pages and groups easily.

  • kobu

  • whirly word - even my spelling challenged daughter loves it

  • calengoo but I've just downloaded facebook facts app and discovered I can import from Google too but haven't tested that yet.

Apparently we're allowed 11 pages of apps. I'm up to 10 and I've only had it a week!

I'm guessing that I'll become more selective and delete the apps I'm not enjoying.

GoSkyWatch for Ipad only is currently on sale for free.. and I have to say it is VERY cool. Just point the Ipad at the area of sky that you are interested in and it will give you a heap on information about what you are looking at.
Love it!

Heh, replying to myself of two weeks ago.
Friendly facebook app is bad! I regret paying 6 bucks for it!
"Social" is much, much better, very much like full website facebook.

AppShopper is good for keeping track of new/updated free/paid apps.

Epic Citadel is a must see, looks like it will make an excellent game.

Cheers,
Joseph

I'm a simple person, the smaller ones are fine. I tried this out this morning watching stuff in bed, works really well. The shows sync pretty fast to get them on but afterwards backup of the ipad is very slow! Also, deleting was non intuitive (for me anyway!) I kept trying to right click delete. Turns out it's highlight the show then hit delete key. That's while in itunes, under apps tab, vlc, down there in the window at the bottom in case anyone is wondering.

BG Online is almost as good as JavaFibs (windows) for playing online backgammon. Now I can play from my comfy living room and not the office! (my username there is itamer)

Towermadness is really fun and it's an hd version for the ipad so looks nice too. Cost is ten dollars but then if you want a couple other nifty weapon types they charge you for those and though it comes with lots of maps there are some you have to buy if you want them. Smart way to make money because who wouldn't want land mines??? ;)
