Port to prepay or postpay?
John
for the benefit of those who have or are about to purchase Iphone and want to port a number, here is the message I just sent John.
thanks John, had a bit of a run around (mostly from a digital mobile shop), but the CSRs have been helpful in trying to get it sorted, as was Tim from First mobile hastings.
I have a 027 number on 2degrees which I want to bring across. I purchased iphone online on iphone 40 plan with new 021 number.
Some issues apparently with porting 2degress prepay??
What the CSR has come up with is that I have gone into first mobile, signed upto simple 60 plan and ported my 027 number to that sim, ring up tomorrow and ask for number swap between the iphone sim and simple 60 sim (then I have the right number on the iphone). Then ask for simple 60 sim to be disconnected. The CSR agreed to credit me the $40 cost for the min 1 month on the simple 60 plan.
Sounds like a long way to get things done, but at least I should get the desired result.
The CSR and First mobile staff have been very helpful in trying to get this sorted.
In hindsight I should have done this at the time of signing up, but since I purchased online I did not want to be without a phone if there was a delay.
Sparky221: Run-down of my quest to get my XT 027 number to replace the new connection 021 iPhone 40 plan number.
- Went into Vodafone to see if I could port my 027 across but was told it wasn't possible - they had had other people ask before and were sure it couldn't be done. Hmm ok - was sure I had read something on here about someone trying a different way to do it - go to see what it was.
- Rang up 777 and asked if it was possible to port my number across and just replace my 021 number. Was told by a not-so-good CSR no - not possible. When I started enquiring whether your route (new connection, number transfer) would be possible, he kept saying you can't port an 027 number onto a new connection. Sigh - decided to head down to Vodafone store again to see what they thought.
- Asked in store but they weren't sure if the number transfer was possible. They called up someone to double check who confirmed a number swap would not be possible - they didn't mention anything about it being because it was a data number - but said 027's were a no go.
- I then asked if I could cancel my current plan and immediately sign-up to a new one, this time porting my 027 and having the ETC refunded. They weren't able to confirm whether I would be able to have the ETC refunded in store, and would need to call 777 to check.
- Called 777 again, who after explaining what I wanted to do (cancel then re-sign), said yes that should be ok - as I got it off the Online Store I would need to do it through them.
- Got transferred through to the online store and a really helpful CSR. Asked if I could cancel/resign/port and have the ETC refunded. Was told I didn't need to do that - it WAS possible to just port my 027 across - no need to cancel, re-sign, do number transfers etc!
- Gave her my XT number and sim number and she would organise the port - should go through in a couple of hours - she would send a text to let me know exactly when. Turned both phones off and on after it was due to be done and bingo - XT sim now dead and 027 on the iPhone 4 =D.
tungsten: My iphone 4?turned up at work today (ordered Friday), looking forward to getting home and connecting it to itunes. (my 1st iphone)
I had no idea stock was limited, I was thinking about a birthday present,?saw the vodafone naked broadband deal, then the $75 credit online deal, did the numbers, a quick phonecall to?my wife,?decided the ipad needed a friend, and?an iphone 4 was ordered ......
Anyone have any experience using the iphone with a skype auckland phone number? I'm planning to sign up as soon as I switch my broadband accross and ditch having a standard phone.
