You have to admit though, in Apple's case it's sort of true.?

I think it's true for most companies. The only thing they tend to milk are their iPods I find. As I always end up saying though, no one actually has to buy Apple products... Buy your Asus laptop for less if you want. No one is going to care.

Who was ever talking about the 3GS?????

Its 3g users like myself who were left with a total POS when we upgraded to iOS4 which was pushed by Apple.

Luckily, like the masses of annoyed 3G users, I went back to 3.1.3 and now its usable again.

Pass the koolaid.

How did you do that? Just reset your phone to factory install and then sync?

I had to do this......

Also note its lots of fun running libusb and discovering it disables all your usb unless you run it in xp compatibilty mode!!!!
If like me you were unaware you need to paw helplessly at your now uncontrollable computer with no mouse or keyboard, hard reboot by holding the power key and killing windows and chooisng last known good configuration from the safe boot menu.

This will load the original usb drivers and then you can rerun libusb in xp mode.

Pre-Requirements

Original Firmware OS 3.1.3 for restoring

iTunes 9.1

iRecovery 1.3 + LibUSB – download link

Step by Step Downgrading from OS 4.0 to OS 3.1.3

Download and extract iRecovery to the desktop

Install Libusb to the desktop filename : libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.1.exe

Connect your iPhone via USB and enter in DFU mode by holding down power and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds

Manually load iPhone OS 3.1.3 firmware file by doing Shift + Restore and selecting the file

During the recovery iTunes will show error, ignore it

Close iTunes and run the following commands in console

cd Desktop

iRecovery.exe-s

setenv atuo-boot true

saveenv

fsboot

exit

Last step : Disconnect from computer and restart your iPhone normally

Congrats you have successfully downgraded from OS 4.0 to OS 3.1.3

I had a perfectly usable iPod Touch on v3.1.2 (jailbroken)...and it was customised the way I liked it and I could multi-task and do other cool stuff.

Then the Reality Distortion Zone sucked me and I 'upgraded' it to iOS4.

Multi-tasking: Gone.
Custom UI: Gone.

All I got was.....folders and a noticeably slower iPod Touch.

BFD.

I waited a bit and used the jailbreakme PDF exploit to jailbreak iOS4.

Now I have all the cool stuff I had before.

But is it true that the next upgrade detects a jailbreak and cuts me off from the Apple Store?

If it is....maybe I should just do it and throw the Apple Brick in the rubbish. Getting tired of this crap.

All the signs are there, the 3GS, the iPad, the girdfriends iPhone, and you willing to go to unreasonable steps of breaking contracts to get yourself an iPhone 4 at the expense of your girlfriend.? Everyone else can see the signs... You just need to take the final steps and look at yourself...

I know its not easy to admit being a fanboy... But your not alone, and there are plenty of places that can help... Just pickup the phone now, you know you want to, dial the number 0800 FANBOY...

They will help, as they have helped many other fanboys like you.? Your no longer alone, society has changed and is beginning to see fanboyism for the serious problem that it is.
