Happy they got rid of Touch ID and the home button.
Absolutely. I was never inspired by the X; Face ID looked like a gimmick to me - until I actually used it.
I had no intention of buying an XS, but daughter #1 needed a "new" phone so it was time to crank the hand-me-down lever :)
Face ID is way faster and more accurate than I expected - with or without my glasses. And all those times I need to unlock my phone when fingerprints won't do: wet/muddy/dirty hands, gloves, cracked fingertips, band-aids, etc.
Apparently samsungs next s models with have inscreen fingerprint readers, which will mean that a leading manufacturer will be using it. I think faceid will likely go the way of 3D touch, where it isn't on their flagship Xr model nor ipad pros. Apples stock price isn't doing too well and apparently the Xr isn't selling as well as they thought. It is as meaty looking phone IMO with fat bezels, especially compared to the Xs, not exactly sleak.
Dial111: hit and miss with sunglasses on, 50/50 in the dark ie when laying in bed, I hate that I have to pick up my phone and unlock it to read notifications.

gehenna:wish it did for me, unfortunately it doesn’t, PITA, Touch ID will always be king imo, faceID is garbageDial111: hit and miss with sunglasses on, 50/50 in the dark ie when laying in bed, I hate that I have to pick up my phone and unlock it to read notifications.
Works 100% of the time for me in both scenarios and you can view notifications without unlocking by tapping to wake and swiping up.

This is one of those things where biometrics don't work equally well with everyone. Both Touch and Face ID work equally well for me, but I find Face ID much more convenient because it doesn't require me to wash and dry my hands, remove gloves, etc, before I can unlock my phone.
My wife can't use Touch ID at all because of the condition of her fingertips. That's a big problem elsewhere as well - like airport immigration fingerprint readers.
However Face ID works perfectly for her.
Dial111: Still not sold on Face ID, hit and miss with sunglasses on, 50/50 in the dark ie when laying in bed, I hate that I have to pick up my phone and unlock it to read notifications. Touch ID was so much more convenient and faster as you don’t need to pick it up and look at the phone.
I hope Apple bring it back under the screen.
Not even sure if this would work but, Why don't you try setting up the 2nd face for faceID with sunglasses on?
Panasonic 65GZ1000, Onkyo RZ730, Atmos 5.1.2, AppleTV 4K, Nest Mini's, PS5, PS3, MacbookPro, iPad Pro, Apple watch SE2, iPhone 15+
Same speculation, different year.
Loismustdye: Ordered last week from Noel’s the new Nike series 4 as an upgrade from my series 2.
ETA yet to be determined but I’m happy to wait as it gives me time to sort out what bands I’m going to pair with it.
Are those who have made the leap to s4 happy with their decision? The increased real estate on the screen is a plus for me but interested to hear of the speed is noticeably faster than on older models.
