IsThisOneGood: No what's it about
IsThisOneGood: What?
Due to unexpected delays... But it's pushed forward.
Lucky man.
wilt64: Well I have had 24hrs to have a play with the iPhone 5 and so far very impressed and those of you who are looking at upgrading in my opinion it is worth it.
Positive things I have found:-
- Light weight: this has blown me away the iPhone 5 is much lighter.
- Possessor speed is a vast improvement, spent quiet some time surfing the net etc and found the phone to be considerably faster than the iPhone 4 and 4S
- Camera...WOW this is the part I am very impressed with. The image quality is far superior to the 4 and 4s with crisp and clean colour performance. The video camera is stunning utilising 1920x1080 HD and boy it shows. As a test I took some footage on my Panasonic SD1 HD video camera and than took the same footage using the iPhone 5 and to be honest the difference between the two devices was minimal, the colour saturation and image clarity was amazing!! The only downside using the iPhone 5 is the audio is only mono verses the Panasonic which is DD5.1
- LCD display: Very nice crisp and what you would expect from Apple, the display is the same width but is longer which gives you true 16:9 aspect ratio.
- Cell phone: works well no issues...
- Cabinet body: Very nice and stylish, some of you have commented on the case showing finger marks etc I don’t seem to be having this problem at the moment.
Downside:- FM radio: One thing I would have thought Apple would have added to the iPhone 5 was a FM radio....
- LCD display not as large as the Samsung S3
Conclusion:A very nice piece of kit with fast possessing power and fantastic camera
Score out of ten 8.5
kitto: What carriers will everyone be on? I'm on 2degrees at the moment, but might just change to Telecom or Vodafone for (presumably) faster data.
Which is best for the iPhone 5?

I've been on Vodafone's old Smart1 plan for iPhone since mid 2010 and I really want to keep it, hence why I have opted to wait and buy the new iPhone outright. It has 30 anytime minutes (I barely ever talk on my phone, LOL), 2500 texts, 1000 pxts and 3GB of data, which was supposedly a 6-month special that they never took off. The data component is the most important bit of the plan to me - I like the freedom of knowing I can use the phone as a hotspot for my 1st gen iPad without worrying about excess data costs. I don't do it often, but good to know it's there. It costs me $40.85 a month and I'm sticking with it as long as I can.
If they were to withdraw that, I'd probably go for one of the $19 prepay plans with them or Telecom with 500MB of data and be careful with my usage.
BTR: I don't understand all of the complaining about the wait, this has been happening since the iPhone 4 was released as was to be expected. There are iPhone shortages in the US so of course Apple is going to look after the bigger countries first. We should be happy its available for purchase here as other countries can't even order them yet!
