littleheaven: Yes, try Plex. The app is free.

Does it work without a Plex Pass subscription?  I tried using Plex on my PS4 last week, to stream the content from my local Plex server. But it informed me I needed to sign up to a paid Plex subscription in order to do this.

No, it'll work without one, though possibly there may be a few premium features that need the sub. Here's an article: http://www.macrumors.com/2015/11/06/plex-app-for-new-apple-tv/

Yup it works with just a free account.
I have setup mine to connect to my Plex server at home and it worked once I had created the free Plex account and logged in on the Apple TV app.

richms: Problem is to get the benefit of 4k you need a big screen. And tv is not made for a big screen which is why it looks so dumb we large.

Really? I've been watching TV for the last 7 years on a 100" screen and it looks far from dumb. A lot of new shows are filmed in a movie like fashion these days and look fantastic on a big screen.

Indeed. We've been watching a show called Acquitted on Lightbox. It's cinematography would rival Hollywood's best work.

Those are just movies that are broken into episodes so are fine. News, sports etc are all made with very tight shots so that people that are cheap and have a small 22" TV can still see what is happening, and tighter shots mean less setwork for sitcoms etc. Old shows are even worse when on a big screen. Even moreso when they are cropped down 4:3 stuff. 2 foot high faces is absurd.

tvOS was updated yesterday which fixed the remote app. The actual remote app in iOS was just updated today as well, separately. Not sure why, as it was already working with the new tvOS. Apple was saying they will be enabling siri via the app next year as well.

I have pulled the ATV4 and put the ATV3 back in.

The ATV4 was just too flakey, got worse after the update.

Will have to get a 10m ethernet cable to see if it was a wireless issue.

One fault that is reproducible is when ever a file gets added to the iTunes server the ATV4 fails, the ATV3 does not.

I'll be getting one of these for my fathers Xmas present as a replacement for an ATV2
Probably just the 32GB model, as I am cheap :-)

BBC iPlayer app has been released - presumably just on the UK app store so make sure you have an account for that to get it.

Gonna give it a go tonight :)

Great! I'm using unotelly and can't get it to work.. keep getting a random error but it works just fine on my Mac on same network/DNS etc.

EDIT - works now, was something weird with my router :)

Just got Siri working on ATV4.  Signed into UK apple store account, enabled Siri.

Then when I resigned into my NZ account, Siri was still enabled and working.

You believe that? ATV runs iOS. It now runs iOS rebadged tvOS as thats a "change", and its new and better. Hype.
