Not if their ad's dont work for it.

The other thing is that you cant have call to actions on platforms like apple tv, and the apps for bluray players etc, just a show someone 30 seconds of something they have to remember and do something with later.

Compare with youtube prerolls and banners on the web where you can get people straight into your website or profile or whatever. I dont even think an ad on an apple tv can even prompt you to install an app or anything like that.

Even a "press the yellow button now" to get an email with a coupon or something would be better than what the bluray and smart tv apps do now which is aproximatly nothing.

Update! TVNZs latest update adds AirPlay functionality YASSSSSSSSSSSSS
out of the stoneage finally.

Edit: this is the iOS app I'm referring to. Havnt tested on android apps. I'm running latest iOS on iPhone 6s+ if that makes a difference.

With this update, there is now no need for me to keep Sky. Fanpass for sport, and now all the tv channels are covered by apps.

Just air played country calendar to the Apple TV , no more pesky cables and setting up the laptop for me! Worked well

On the Play store, the latest update also says this:

"Great news – we’ve made it easier for you to watch News and Current Affairs shows when and where it suits you, as they’ll now be available live! What’s more, if you miss the beginning of any live show, you’ll be able to start from the start while it’s live, and, after the show’s finished if need be."

If that's for any show, that's really awesome! Bring on Chromecast and drop the Samsung exclusivity and it will be awesome!

Likely to now add an ATV4 app? Surely they will complete the set

Because it works with airplay, now I can get these shows on the previous model too (ATV3).

Good news and thanks for the heads up!

Hopefully it means a Native ATV4 App is coming down the pipes at TVNZ HQ too.

I've just realised that completes the set of things I needed to make my ATV the all-in-one streaming solution I'd been hoping for ... or it did until I discovered the UKTV Play app on the weekend, which doesn't stream (but can be mirrored in 4:3). But, yes, a native app would be good. Just takes that extra layer of hassle out.

I'm the same. Will probably drop Sky after the Olympics altogether. We only have it for the free to air tv (which we watch time shifted) and the sport now. We can now get rid of sky and save $20/month with a fanpass subscription.

Yes, I cut the cable just over a year ago and haven't regretted it. With developments like this happening all the time the ATV4 just gets better and better as a replacement for all that content. I have access to more now than my parents do with Sky.

A native app for itv would be good too. Have you tried tvplayer?

I did, and the quality was so horrible I deleted it. I had the Plus version for a while but the Plus channels wouldn't work on the ATV app and all the other streams were just unwatchable. I use the TVStreams app now for live UK telly, but the time difference means all their best stuff is on at the wrong time of day.

My current wishlist for the ATV4 is All4, TVNZ, Fanpass, and UKTV - and I can airplay all of those bar the last one, which I can mirror if I'm desperate. UKTV has Selling Houses Australia which is one of the very few shows I miss from Sky, and haven't found elsewhere.

Looks like TVNZ might have an Apple TV app before the end of the month. I emailed TVNZ regarding an Apple TV app and received this reply:

"Thanks for your email!

We're aware that many viewers would like TVNZ OnDemand to be available on Apple TV, and we're pleased to say our development team is working on bringing OnDemand to this device.

We're hopeful we'll have something for you to enjoy by the end of the month, but, we'll be sure to announce this on our social pages when the application's ready and available! "
