Question is how does Apple increase the price in NZ yet again?

USD per 1 NZD:

September 2015: 0.63~

September 2016: 0.73~

If you check $1800 NZD in 2015 inflated to 2016, it would be around $1801 if you took the Q3 2015 numbers compared to Q2 2016 numbers.

So how does $1799 become $1829?

It makes little difference to New Zealand buyers. Last week the top end iPhone with the most storage is roughly the same price as it is this week, but the phone is a lot better and has twice the storage capacity. It's not like the average kiwi consumer cares about the exchange rate with a country that happens to be the headquarters of a company that they buy a product from. Car prices (which are a much larger purchase) don't tend to change much year to year based on how the exchange rate changes in Korea, Japan or America vs New Zealand. Same thing with clothes. Or shoes. Or game consoles. Or software. Or digital content.

If you really care so much about the couple of hundred dollars difference, simply buy an unlocked phone from the US and ship it to New Zealand via one of the many postage companies that allow this.

Basically because people will pay it,

It is interesting that in both OZ and NZ the iphone 7 price didn't change, (despite the ex rate improving), but a whole lot of other apple devices did get price cuts, (ipad pro and Air2, apple TV,)

Because we don't live in a communist country. You have a pricing choice.

Buy or do not buy.

A price is generally what the market will tolerate not how it works out based on inflation vs. exchange variances.

I would also suggest our pricing is set vs. the AUD rather than the USD but that is a guess.

This is based on an assumption that all costs (Manufacturing cost/freight/local distribution etc) remain in line as per a year ago...

darylblake: Try copying photos on and off it without all this syncing nonsense. Or maybe loading on some mp3s without more how should I say it.. Syncing. Don't get me wrong the phone is generally pretty good and I use a Mac at work. But my god is it hard to do some simple tasks.

And regarding the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the only major changes I can see or notice are that they have improved cameras (7 Plus has dual cameras I think), and are water and dust resistant (Lots of phones get a bit wet on rainy days and hardly ever have a problem)! Oh and the headphones plug.

But apparently this new iphone will still have water indicators inside, so if it gets wet, the warranty will still be void, so not sure if the waterproofing is really that much of a feature. The only benefit is that it may increase the chances of the phone still working after dropping it into water.

I wouldn't be surprised if the headphone jack makes a return, because they are now missing a port. They are now selling a splitter box to allow you to charge and listen at the same time, which just proves that only having one lightning socket is going to be a problem. If you are listening to something, and the battery is about to run out, you have to then stop listening while it charges, which is going to be a pro blem. Let alone charging cases which use the socket. I suspect people will create cases that have the socket built in.

Think they already do, but it is a big white ugly box.

It was a very specific topic actually, far more specific than general discussion on the announcement.

The majority have suggested Matte Black, and I've decided am going with the majority (not just because of the majority, but the arguments for and against were all compelling). It would have been hard to get that specific feedback from a decent number of members in the other, much broader, thread.

EDIT: It has admittedly veered completely off topic, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't have been created in the first place.

Is there much more to do with the phones? Apple or Android.

Apple has the retina HD, which it has determined that has enough pixels so when using the phone normally can't be seen, so why go to UHD? - (This is Apples though pattern)

The phone is very thin already, I actually want a thicker phone with a better battery!

CPU is sufficient for the tasks required.

The main areas of interest lately have been IP rating, camera improvements and batter improvements

For phones in general what is the next revolution?
