event2: any one keen to line up in dunedin with me? its nice and frosty here at the moment
Chris Keall from PC World:Here at PC World Towers, we know Vodafone's NZ pricing, though we're still under NDA for another few days (keep watching this space ... and watch out for Scott on TV1's Breakfast with one of only two units in the country July 10).
What I can say is: Vodafone's 3G iPhone pricing will wipe out the parallel importers' Apple business.
Wow! I sure hope it will be as good as this sounds... :) Can't wait!!!
destined: All Vodafone needs to do to "wipe out the parallel importers' Apple business" is to price the iPhone lower than the prepay options overseas. Remeber the PIs priced the iPhone around $1000, so if (as is speculated) Voda offer the 8Gb for around $300-400 on a 24 month contract, then that will seriously undercut the PIs. It isn't saying much really.
sbiddle: That won't wipe out the parellel import business because the iPhone is only going to be available on a term contract.

Is that fact? Most overseas carriers that have announced their pricing have also announced a no-tem-commitment price as well?

bonkiebonks: Well, it's fact in New Zealand at least - Vodafone's only going to make it available on-contract. At least that was what was hinted in their press release.

I will be down in Dunedin for the rugby and thus for the 11th also - where is the Vodafone store in the city? Is it in the Meridian?

Its in the Meridian and also just outside the meridian next to National Bank. The one next to National Bank is a big store and expect to get iPhone there (hope so)
