Perhaps. There was a tone in the conversation which almost suggested to me that Edition buyers got a little more leeway; in saying that, when I worked for Apple what someone spent didn’t dictate the quality of service they got. I’ll enjoy this one and upgrade when cellular is finally an option.

I work with someone with an Hermes edition. It had to be sent to Australia to be serviced as they just don't have the parts/replacements for anything other than the standard GPS watches here in NZ.

Was it a senior advisor that told you it would be ok or just a frontline grunt?

First line support after lengthy consultation, during which I was on hold. Again, it’s not a huge deal - if cellular comes out here down the line I’ll punt the Nike one and get my Edition then.

Update - spoke to Apple again today, this time with someone who very clearly knew what they were doing. The Edition Hermès IS covered in NZ, but only because they negotiated worldwide coverage in their endorsement contract. Titanium, stainless steel or other LTE equipped Watch models will not be covered. Guess I’ll be sticking with my Nike edition, which I should have on or before the 15th.

Glad to hear you finally spoke to someone who had a clue and gave you the right information :)

This is most likely insignificant to you "clever ones" but I think it is not only cool but really useful.

I use the tawk.to system and it works well for me. I just installed the tawk.to app on my iphone only to find that it creates a notification somehow, without me doing anything, to my series 5 notifying me I have a caller online.

Apple Watch cellular announcement from Spark: https://www.spark.co.nz/shop/apple-shop/watch/apple-watch-series-5-cellular.html

I hope they aren't only doing 44mm space grey and 40mm gold - or that Apple will sell more of the options than Spark direct. Not that I dislike the black finish, but I think silver goes with more of my straps. Also I want the option of an SS or titanium version as they have tougher glass and I find the glass in the aluminium ones gets marked through wear in a way my original S0 SS one didn't.
