Kopkiwi:

The design sure is getting dated (got dated about 3 years ago). Why are they sticking to it so stringintly? Probably one of the most boring phones to look at and hold of any of the top brands.

There was a new design last year.

I imagine 'dated design' probably refers to the fairly standard slab of glass look and/or the notch.

I think the iPhone design is still excellent. If we're being honest all phones have been flat or slightly curvy slabs of glass/metal/plastic for a while now. But it's a practical design that looks nice and works well for smartphones, hence why it's been play for so long. Folds and Flips are finicky and stupid IMO, and really I'm not sure how else you could approach the design of a phone.

Notch is a fair call. It doesn't bother me, but I also wouldn't say no to it ceasing to exist.

Also more specifically to the topic at hand... I'm so torn on colours! I love the new blue, but starlight and midnight are such classics (and I'd like to see what's different compared to white and black), and to be honest I'm actually really taken with the pink.

Only a few hours to make my mind, unless one wishes to use and abuse Apple's return policy...

Pink? Never.

I think the sierra blue is nice but the darker blue of the 12 was even nicer. Green would have been nice.

Because it works, I guess.

I think blue for me. If I don't really like it'll still look good as contrast colour camera bump in a black case.

It is strange that as an existing Spark pay monthly customer it forces you to change your plan in order to buy a phone…!

Well that was a waste of time.

I got up at about 6:30 this morning and placed an order but it didn't give the option to choose a delivery address. The assumed delivery address was wrong but initially it wouldn't let me make any changes to the order. I tried again later and it gave me the option to change the delivery address but it just ignored the changes.

In the end I got fed up and just cancelled the whole order. There isn't any desperate hurry to replace my current phone so I'll wait until later in the year and then hopefully the major retailers and telcos will have stock.

Interestingly the lead time for a 256Gb graphite 12 Pro as of early this morning was 4 - 5 weeks so if anyone needs their order filled ASAP then hopefully you placed your order bang on midnight!

Hi all - so I hopped online at midnight Friday night and spent a few minutes refreshing the Apple Store page before it finally let me start placing my order (about 12.08am). Being pretty radical I didn't get my usual black or space grey... I went for a 13 Pro, 512GB graphite!

Oddly 12 hours later I still haven't received an email confirmation of my order and nothing has been added to my credit card account... in fact I was even questioning whether in my late night delusion I actually went through and completed the oder fully. Luckily I took a screenshot of the order page that says 'You're all set" and gives an order number. It has a leather case listed as being delivered Thursday 23rd & the iPhone being delivered Friday 24th.

So - fingers crossed that everything will go through the system correctly - it sounds like there have been pre-order issues around the world...

Cheers,
Mike

Pretty much every year retailers let people down getting their phones from what I've seen. So IMO the best place is direct from Apple.

I got my confirmation order at 12:23am so you should have a confirmation to actually secure it.  You might want to contact Apple to confirm if you got it now, because launch stock has gone and you'll have to wait for the next container to arrive in 4-5 weeks (gonna be ps5 all over again imo)

Also man what an ordeal it was, i just spammed ctrl-f5 on the page constantly to refresh it until my order finally went through to get through those 502 gateway errors.  Understandable when places like PBTech on some garage ISP in NZ struggles on launch days, but didn't really expect it from Apple.

I don’t use the website to order stuff anymore. The Apple Store app is the best IMO, especially for an iPhone pre-order. Quick and easy with Apple Pay.

Pro tip: Favourite the model and configuration you want to get before the store goes down :)
