I've not found any concerns with iOS 15 over previous major versions.

Google Maps has been working fine, and haven't noticed other apps get laggy and lock-up.

I did notice facebook was a bit flaky after initially going to iOS 15, but seems to have been sorted with newer app releases from Meta.

I wonder was it iOS 15 causing these issues or was it the FB app itself? I've noticed similar issues with various apps after previous major releases, again which cleared up with a few app version updates.

I'm using both iPhone 12 pro and iPad Mini 4.

I too, have found no (major) issues with IOS 15.x and iPadOS 15.x, with perhaps the only issue was the Facebook app freezing when trying to view comments on the iPad - this is a very well publicised issue and there were workarounds, however, Facebook released an updated app a couple of days ago which seemed to have fixed the Facebook on iPad issue. And besides, the Facebook issue was only on the iPad with an external keyboard attached - it worked without issues on the iPhone.  In fact, 15.x seemed to perform better on my iPhones - definitely improved battery life and a lot less of a battery drain on my work supplied iPhone 7 compared to 14.x, so pretty happy with it.

Hopefully 15.2 won't break the Facebook app on the iPad - fingers crossed!

ditto, if it had updated in the background I would not have known.

Really?  Lock screen functionality for replying to messages, updating notifications etc has totally changed.

I have noticed the carrier bundle has been updated on 2D and now supports VoLTE. (This is on my old iPhone SE)

The update gave Carplay in my Mazda a bit of trouble this evening and the headunit software crashed, anyone else having similar probs?

As mentioned in another thread, since iOS 15, the voice search function for nav directions in Google Maps on CarPlay no longer works. The mic icon has disappeared. Very annoying. No comment from Apple and if you were cynical you might say it was done deliberately to slightly cripple Google Maps to the benefit of their inferior Apple Maps - where voice search still works.

I have had issues with voice search for a while with Google Maps on CarPlay. Though the microphone icon appeared, I could never get it to work, it always immediately displayed ‘can’t hear you’ or words to that effect every time I tried to use it. This happened across multiple iPhones and multiple cars and effectively made voice search completely unuseable.

Now the icon is gone, but practically this makes no difference for me.

Voice search used to work perfectly, I can’t remember when it stopped working but it might have been ios15.

Mic used to work well for me. I'm hoping that its disappearance was an error and that it'll come back with 15.2 when I test later - but not holding my breath.

Looks like I am partly wrong here. Mentioned the issue to Mrs Code who said she used voice search on Google Maps in her car yesterday. She showed me how she did it.

Up until iOS 15, the GM mic icon was on the main map screen in the lower LH corner - you could tap on the icon on screen and talk. In iOS 15 the mic icon has been moved. Now, you have to tap the map screen to open 'search', then tap on 'search' to reveal the mic icon hidden in the top RH corner of the screen, then tap on 'mic' and talk. So mic is there - but now it takes three screen taps to do what you could previously do with one tap. Longer distraction when driving - that's progress?

As Mrs Code gleefully said, not often she gets to tell me something a bit techy. Grrr but glad I know.

I tried that ( 12.1 Air ), it just says 15.2 is the latest 3 times.

Removing the sim didn't help either.

Threw into recovery mode & trying a force update now, if that fails I'll go to 15.1

It's a brick at this point, I would suggest be wary of 15.2 ( I tried to go back to 15.1.1 with no luck ).

iPhone 12 pro max,

After 15.2 update said "Mobile update failed" no cell communication.

Tried reset comm settings

Tried reinstalling via USB ( recover mode )

Tried 15.1.1 restore

Now I still have no mobile comm ( cell connect wavy as after update ).

Unable to activate, an update is required to activate your phone ( 15.2/15.1.1 )

Aka a brick, will try apple shop in akl tomorrow.
