mrtoken:  the 3Gs has nothing that I need, voice control is just ewwww

but hands free dialing in the car would be very useful.  Additional 16GB memory, 50% more battery and an autofocus camera that does Macro without a slider lens would be useful (barcode scanning and photos of documents/receipts)

benedictx: The 8GB iphone 3G from Vodafone NZ currently costs NZ$979 without a plan while

it used to cost US$199 for the same phone in the US with a contract. So using my powers of theoretical maths:

(NZ$979/US$199)xUS$99=NZ$487

So maybe NZ$487

The phone is out in July in New Zealand

That would be awesome

lduncan: iPhone 3GS NZ release date is set for 9th of July. It's a staggered release around the world.

Is that July 2009... did not show day in the date.  '09 as in year

The built in Nike+ sensor is a nice addition too. There has been a growing call for them to icnclude it like they did with the latest generation of the touch. Nice to not have to take an ipod and cellphone when you are out for a run.

The first couple are month and day, but the subsequent ones are month and year (indicated by the ' in front of '09, meaning 2009).

Australia is conspicuously absent from the country list.

So is there any word coming through on what network(s) this will be on in New Zealand?

The rumours are all on the previous posts. Keep an eye in this thread and it should be updated when more information is available.

steve98: Where did you hear that lduncan? about it coming out July 9?

I was sitting 7 rows from the front in the keynote (scored VIP passes) :-) I'm sure I heard 9th of July as the launch date for the NZ group of countries, may have mis-heard though.

There was nothing in the keynote about new carriers, no Telecom or XT logos to be seen yet ;-)

I just watched the vid from youtube which was posted above...

Apart from the new camera features which i doubt I would use much the only real drawing point is the capacity being 32gb. OS 3.0 on the older 3g might be enough for me... maybe.

Will voice control work on the 3g with the new OS? Must be just software dependant right?
