System: Mine has just been updated to "Prepared for Shipment", this means that it still hasn't been sent though by the looks of it so it is still 2-3 days away.

Dam, i ordered mine on the same date (14th?) as you and my status hasn't changed...
Dam..............................

Probably 1-2 days? Depends on where you live.
It also looks like it takes 6 business days to process it

Well it looks like they were out of stock until now because people that ordered from launch all the way up to Monday the following week have had theres prepared today, most other orders will hopefully get done tomorrow so the week long wait will hopefully be over from now.

They say on their website when you order that standard shipping is 2-3 days.

My order on 13th just changed to "Preparing for shipment". Why are we paying GST for an imported item?

We don't know that its an import item yet but even if it is you still pay GST its just called import tax that is 12.5%.

Apple Online Store is a registered NZ business (but a division of Apple Australia), they have to charge GST.

Where it's shipped from makes no difference, and they do ship from Sydney -- they do not have a warehouse in NZ.

pebbles: The DSE ones shouldn't be available for sale without a contract. I work at DSE and was unable to buy one. The ones that say they are outright you need to prove you have a pre-existing contract

Do you work at one of the DSE stores that sells them?

No but I work in a store two floors below one that does. I tried to buy one over the weekend and was told that without signing a new contract or proof of an existing one it wasn't possible

Yet I was able to purchase one at DSE on Sat... and I was served by one of the store managers (whom I thought would be more likely to uphold the "rules").

Damn, I must have just gotten someone who actually knew the rules. Were you not asked for proof of contract at all?
