I reccommend Logmein Ignition

https://secure.logmein.com/products/ignition/iphone/

if I get an iPad this will be the first app I get

Funny you say that  -I've just had a play with it on ipod touch today, it's not as easy to use as i'd hoped- I was talking to nudge last week and he's wanting the ultimate home theater remote - a bit more like the 'Remote' app crossed with a logitech remote. I've used the jfcontrol app on my touch with my laptop and it's fantastic, for the few dollars I payed for it it's been worth it.

I picked up a 64GB 3G this morning from dse st lukes, noticed their website had an 8am opening. I was there at 7.30 and was the first to grab my ipad.

Had already arranged the day of as AL and have had a great time setting everything up. Honestly I think this is the best device I have ever purchased and I have a lot of devices....

Got most of the accessories, camera connection, dock, vga etc, official ipad case was hard to find, went to magnummac and grabbed one from there around 8.45am. Looks like most of the retail stores dont have any in stock

The had plenty of camera kits this morning at Queen St. I would be surprised if they had sold out there.

Nudge -  In fact if anyone knows of an app (for the ipad) that will work as a keyboard/mouse/remote for win7 over wifi or bluetooth, givus a headsup as that is the big selling point for me.

I would have thought that would be quite easy?  Why can't you remote desktop to your windows machine and control your Media Center that way?  Does Apple not have remote Desktop software?

EDIT
I did a quick Google and there is even a free app available.

I think nudge is thinking more along these lines =D

Cheers for your suggestions.  RPD isn't ideal, because of the way it wants to do screen updates, like changing tv channels would want to do screen updates all the time.
The universal remote looks like an amazing app, but it transmits via RF, I would prefer wifi or bluetooth as I want to control the PC, I guess I could plug a rf receiver into the PC
and secure logmein, although I haven't tested it I suspect will want to do the screen update thing while watch tv.

Anyone know a good ios4 developer?

Nice one, I misinterpreted the original request :)

That remote app looks great. I will be looking more towards an RDP app where I think logmein would fit the bill - someone should give it a go.

Is anyone planning on managing their WHS (console) via their iPad? Keen to know how that goes.

this is a slap in the face!

Got mine at DSE in Lower Hutt, the store didn't open at 8 as advertised. A nice security (insecurity?) lady let me in to the mall. The DSE staff were not willing to open up. Luckly a very angry man in front of me changed their mind and I was away 5 mins later.

I chopped down my XT SIM, works a treat!

got mine at Vic Uni. With Camera Connection, dock and a nice case (no apple ones though). Loving it so far - admittedly so far I have only put Plants v Zombies and Battle for Wesnoth on it. NZ Herald app looks good though, maybe when I get to work tomorrow I will throw that on it as well. I got a free voda sim, but havent used it (as per my comment in the news section, I will be waiting for a telecom SIM monday).

A little annoyed at how slowly it charges via my laptop USB - but it does charge even though it says it doesn't.

I don't have internet at home and I will be mainly using it for internet browsing, games and my meagre music collectiont (8GB or so), so I went for the 3G/WiFi 16GB model, and I am happy with that.

Little tip - If you jailbreak you iPad and install an app called MiWi via cydia it'll let you share the iPads 3G via wifi. It does make it a pretty awesome battery powered 3G AP.
I installed it on my 3GS, worked first time and saved having to buy the 3G iPad in the first place.

I'd rather not  jailbreak it - yet. But it's funny you mention that as I have been looking in to  using my Treo Pro as a  WiFi hotspot. I know it can be done with a 15 pound app, but haven't managed to get it going for free yet.. I may as well get some use out of  this  $60  data plan instead of just  USB tethering my  laptop at  home. Sorry OT a bit.
