If you need to move your Spotify Playlist to Apple Music, have a look at StAMP https://stamp.hern.as/

littleheaven: Some people have been reporting that their battery is draining a lot faster when using it. Apparently older models of phone are more prone to it. I've not noticed much difference but the drive to work is only 10-15 minutes, and that's when I use it.

I'm still managing to play songs in the car that I've added to my library but not downloaded, and yet cellular data for Music and iTunes is off, and it reports not a single kb used since I reset the totals to 0 a few days ago. I must therefore assume when you listen to part of a song, it gets cached in your phone. Having gotten to grips with it a bit more, I am quite liking it, but still uneasy about letting it integrate with my full library (I have yet to turn it on on my Mac). Not sure whether I will use it enough to be worth the subscription price, but I guess that depends on how much new music I discover and want to listen to.

I haven't tried it yet.

I'd be surprised if battery was an issue, compared to any other streamer. It uses cellular radio, which will be adversely affected by cell tower distance, but that applies to any streamer.

Yes, it must cache to avoid buffering, and holds it for a while, maybe to make the download if you want it nice and quick?

How do you mean integrate with your library? The downloaded songs adding to yours?

My main bugbear with the service at the moment is that it gets confused if you pause a streamed track, and then resume a few minutes later. Attempting to do so results in the following error:-

Despite this, you can play another track with no issues. But once it gets in this state, I'm yet to find a way to allow me to resume from where a track was paused.

I use it for an hour+ everyday, mostly offline playback (not streamed via cellular/WIFI) and have noticed significant drain on my iphone 6.

Normally at the end of a day id have around 50%+ battery on spotify. With apple music 30%

Wow. How is that any different to playing music you added to your phone? IIRC the iPhone has 40 hours music playback?  If you played only AM or Spotify music that was downloaded, I'm shocked that it afects battery. Maybe there is a background hum of internet chatter with the app and its home base thats using battery and not much data?

From experience I think this is how Spotify works too.

Thanks for your thoughts on the caching. I thought I was going mad, lol.

Yes, by integrate I mean merge the cloud-based music with my offline library. I've read of some people finding that it messes up their library, creating duplicates and whatnot. Anyway, I'm home sick today so I'm going to bite the bullet and try it out. Fingers crossed there are no dramas.

I've found it integrates with my library pretty well.

Just be aware that, some songs cannot be "matched" or found and yet STAMP will reported it's successfully imported... I'm encountering a few of this myself - have paid 5 Euros too *lol*

Anyway, I'm going to try splitting my CSV to smaller chunk and try doing them in batches - so I have an audit of what get imported and what

I can report my merge went successfully, to my relief.

I found the experience quite poor on the iPhone - basically the music app is now quite difficult to use to do common things and because it doesn't remember the last menu/page one was on, the navigation sequence has to be performed every time the app is opened (try navigating to a play list and turning on shuffle and then repeating the action after the app has been closed).

From the music streaming - I don't use this because all of the artists/genres presented seem to just be popular music ones that I don't listen to - if I could mark them as non-interested so it could suggest others, that would probably make things better.  I don't use icloud because I use mobile data (no wifi access most of the time) it kept prompting me at one stage to turn this feature on.
