jarledb: Actually, its tvOS that has been updated to support the Remote App :)

You believe that? ATV runs iOS. It now runs iOS rebadged tvOS as thats a "change", and its new and better. Hype.

Not sure what you are getting at. Care to spell it out for me?

With the latest tVOS update the Remote App started working (before I updated to the latest Remote App). I have seen others that report the same as well.

But to me it seems like this is not what you are commenting on, or am I wrong?

What I mean is that the ATV still runs on iOS. They now call it tvOS, but I bet its iOS as it always has been. Marketing.

So what is the problem with it running iOS? You know the previous version didn't have apps right? The new one does, and there is already more than 2500 apps out for it, and more to come.

Nothings wrong at all. My comment was merely thats its not a new OS from iOS, thats all. Marketing. I have one sitting in the next room!

Just seen a couple of new apps on the Australian App Store - SBS and +7, for on-demand content. I'm watching with the assistance on unotelly. Looks like there is quite a few movies on the sbs app.

Got SBS now but couldn't find Plus 7?

Unsure but it looks like it was just released today, only saw it as it was in my purchased list as I already had the iPad app. Try getting it on an iPad or iPhone and it should show up in your purchase list and you'll be able to install it that way.

Just got a new apple tv to replace my gen 2 and this one wont output 1080p through my amp to my projector. Auto HDMI sets it to 1024xsomething and it looks awful. Anyone had anything similar?

Brought a 32GB model for Dad as a replacement for the ATV2
Played a few games on it - the remote sucks and I would upgrade to a gamepad if it was my own device.

App Store seems lacking .. but otherwise works as expected.

New apps are coming all the time, so the last issue should be rectified going forward.

I got the 64GB version from my wife for Christmas, and I absolutely love it! It's worth it for the Siri integration alone (which is dead easy to activate just by setting your region). I'm also pleasantly surprised by some of the games available for it, especially those that allow multiple users to control it via accompanying iOS apps. All and all quite a worthy upgrade from my previous ATV.

I also don't hate the remote that much... although the onscreen keyboard is a real PITA to use. That's not so much of an issue now that the Remote app supports it.

And a potentially unknown tip for any Gmail users out there. By appending + to the first portion of your gmail account you can create multiple email aliases, so you can have one Apple ID account for each region you may want apps for. I have accounts for the US, UK and NZ stores by using this technique. Well technically the US one uses a completely different account, but the point applies to the other two.

Good tip, thanks! I used outlook.com's "alias" feature to do the same - I just added a three-letter country code to the end of my usual email name to identify which iTunes account it's for. I have accounts for US, UK, Aussie and NZ. What I love about this Apple TV is that you can just jump between iTunes accounts without logging out and in again, just choose from the list and click.

I was having a play with some of the American channel apps last night. I was surprised how many shows were accessible without a cable subscriber login.

I bought an apple TV gen 4 32GB the other day.  I still have an apple TV 3.

When I change Netflix regions via UnoTelly I find that on the apple TV gen 4 the Netflix home page does not update to the new regions home page.  If I use the search function I find titles for the new region so the region has definitely changed.  I have killed the app and restarted it and it makes no difference.  The only way that I can get the Netflix home page to update to the new region is to logout of Netflix and log back in.  This is a bit painful though.  When I try the same thing on my Apple TV 3 the home page is updated as soon as the app is restarted.  This suggests it is an issue with the Netflix app for AT4.  Has anyone else come across this?

Thanks
Kirk.
