Looks like TVNZ might have an Apple TV app before the end of the month. I emailed TVNZ regarding an Apple TV app and received this reply:

"Thanks for your email!

We're aware that many viewers would like TVNZ OnDemand to be available on Apple TV, and we're pleased to say our development team is working on bringing OnDemand to this device.

We're hopeful we'll have something for you to enjoy by the end of the month, but, we'll be sure to announce this on our social pages when the application's ready and available! "

Nice. and thanks for the update, a full set soon for ATV4

Great news! I’ve had a lot of trouble with the Chromecast and AirPlay functionality of TVNZ lately - Chromecast keeps freezing and AirPlay keeps dropping the audio, so hopefully a native app will work better.

Hmmm, they have changed their answer re this on the TVNZ FAQs (a fortnight ago it said they were hoping for the end of this month).  It's now far less imminent sounding.  cry

We're aware that many viewers would like TVNZ OnDemand to be available on Apple TV, and we're pleased to say our development team is working on bringing OnDemand to this device.

While we can't commit to an exact launch date just yet, we'll be sure to announce this on our social pages when the application's ready and available.

You may also like to make sure you’re set to receive emails from TVNZ by ticking the box under Preferences in your account at the top right of your screen.

That way you’ll be the first to know when we have news to share about Apple TV (as well as shows we think you might love). Don’t worry we won’t be spammy or share your details with anyone else.

Given that freeview is currently being redeveloped I wouldn't hold my breath.

Whats up with TVNZ? Its not rocket science to make an Apple TV 4 app. Really disappointing that they are not giving priority to developing it, can't see any other reason for them not to have an app a long time ago...

Is there any further information on this?

The cynic in me wonders if it's something to do with deals done with other manufacturers (i.e. Samsung TV) - although possibly a lack of resource / funding?

This is about a new STB but also an overhaul of Freeview OD that will be rolled out to newer devices.

So it is...

I see the live TV option goes automatically to playing TV2.... I wonder if there are other streams?

Also I am interested to see if the app will autoplay next episodes.... having a play with it now.
