Haha, the whole "what am I going to do with my traditional headphones now the standard headphone port is gone" drama is telling in itself. Apple haven't taken the headphone port away from your existing iPhone. IF you CHOOSE to upgrade to a new one then you will be doing so with the knowledge that this port won't exist on the new phone. There is only so much drama about this because people are acting like buying the new iPhone is a requirement, they are compelled to buy it through some dark force and have no option other than buy it!

Nobody has the new iPhone yet so this missing port is affecting nobody currently. If you feel it is going to create a reason for such anger then perhaps buy an exploding Samsung or one of the many other smartphones on offer that DO tick the boxes of features you prioritise.

If the port is gone, then I don't see it coming back. To be honest it's been rumoured to happen for a long, long time. People have prepared. There are excellent wireless headphone options already on the market. If you're an audiophile and a stickler for extreme quality then you're not listening to music from a smartphone as it is anyway. Granted I have wireless headphones and both my vehicles have factory bluetooth for listening to my smartphone music in them, but i've also never been in a situation where I've NEEDED to listen to music and charge my phone at the same time. But I do understand that peoples usage of phones caries greatly.

Back on topic, I was tossing up between the two options as the OP. In the end I've decided to go the Jet Black way. My phone will likely be in a case most of the time anyway, as my previous ones have (currently using a Bellroy Phone Wallet for my 6 Plus), but I like the aesthetic of the Jet Black option so the possibility of having it out of its case and looking great on occasion is still there :)

And regarding the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the only major changes I can see or notice are that they have improved cameras (7 Plus has dual cameras I think), and are water and dust resistant (Lots of phones get a bit wet on rainy days and hardly ever have a problem)! Oh and the headphones plug.

Is there much more to do with the phones? Apple or Android.

Apple has the retina HD, which it has determined that has enough pixels so when using the phone normally can't be seen, so why go to UHD? - (This is Apples though pattern)

The phone is very thin already, I actually want a thicker phone with a better battery!

CPU is sufficient for the tasks required.

The main areas of interest lately have been IP rating, camera improvements and batter improvements

For phones in general what is the next revolution?

Heaps can be done to the iphone. Battery life is a hard one no one can solve.  The iphone  they have to bring out a new version each year, as it is their key product.  They should have replaced the LCD screen with newer tech with this one. Bringing in a new jet black colour, is really trying to hide the elephant in the room. Next year the iphone 7 is going to look very outdated when they move to a new screen technology, and likely remove the home button altogether . But they want to give the 10 year anniversary phone the major update, and not waste it all with this one, otherwise no one will buy next years version.

I notice with the ipad, it is now so mature that they are now not doing updates this year. Although the ipad pro will be stuck with a chip that is significantly slower than the iphones.

The big reason to go to UHD, is to use it for thing like virtual reality. So you put the phone into one of these headsets.

I go caseless, so there is the question of scratches showing more easily; but what clinched it for me to go matte is fingerprints. I can't help the screen having fingerprints, but I think I'd lose my mind having them all over the back as well. Also if there is no oleophobic coating on the polished aluminium (I don't know if there is) the fingerprints might show up even more than on the screen.

Just ordered shiny black 7 Plus for my wife. Even nicer, VF offered the unsubsidised part of the handset cost at zero interest over the 24 months of her plan!

I would leave Spark if it wasn't for the $10 discount from broadband bundle and spotify.

Ordered my iPhone 7 128GB Black (not Jet) from Apple Store.

Looks like the Jet Black is popular judging by the delivery estimates the Apple site is listing (as of 8:10pm). Especially the Jet Black Plus - now saying November!

No one really knows if it is going to be a fingerprint magnet or not, as it is a new surface and it isn't out in the field yet.. Personally I would go for the jet black one as it looks better, but it is more expensive as you have to go for a 128GB one, not 32gb. Even the matt black will likely get finger prints, as matt surfaces can attract the grease off fingers.

I have been with Vodafone for over 10 years so being signed up to a 24 month contract doesn't matter to me.

I don't know that many Geekzone members would be getting the 32GB anyway. I was on the fence, so played it safe. When I see a Jet Black in person I may regret not getting one.
