Was tossing up whether or not to get a new iPhone to replace the iPhone 12 Pro Max that i got in April. For some reason i woke up at 12.28am so i took that as a sign and purchased a Sierra Blue Pro Max. Due to arrive Friday.
Now just gotta work out how much to sell my old one for.
Only reason i am is that my 12 was essentially a free replacement i got from apple when i took them to the disputes tribunal in March when my X developed a fault.
Resale value is high so makes sense to upgrade now to the 13.

Don't you just hate that when that happens?
Keeping my 12 until it dies or there's some actual compelling reason to upgrade(even then I'd only be looking at the Pro).

Really surprised at how much Apple Store struggled last night. I've never had an Apple pre-order go so roughly, took several refreshes and was really slow but we did get there in the end.
Ended up deciding blue, it's a gorgeous colour and nicer than last year's blue IMO, plus it matches my car (almost!). All the colours are so nice this year.
Looks like pink is super popular - looks like pink is no longer available to order for launch day delivery but the others colours remain available. I'm not surprised because I think it's a gorgeous colour, but I am surprised because I didn't think pink would have widespread popularity.
It’s a shame the Apple Store doesn’t offer things like trade in and interest free like it does elsewhere.
I went to Spark this morning and ordered a 256 Pro Max. It will be sent to the store so that I can have them move my esim number when I pick it up.

GSManiac: Apple do offer interest free. 24 months.

Never comes up as an option when I check out.
Are you sure it's Apple rather than one of those Q Card things?

Did they give you a timeframe? I just put my name on the list at Harvey Norman and the guy there had no idea when they will get their stock. I'm guessing that the telcos probably have some launch stock, and the big box retailers will have a 4 - 5 week wait as per the current Apple store lead times.
The price delta between iPhone 12 vs iPhone 13 (256GB model) is only $70.
AFAICT, the main advantage with the iPhone 13 is the A15 chip and better battery performance. Which for an additional $70, seems like a no-brainer.
Wondering, if there's something obvious I'm missing here? (i.e. why wouldn't one get the iPhone 13 256GB)

The 2 main cameras from the 12 Pro Max are what's in the 13 base model. That's another thing to consider. But if you're a camera nerd why aren't you sporting for the Pro or Pro Max? Pro Res is supported there and if you get anything above the 128GB model(256GB,512GB,1TB) you get 4k 30 fps Pro Res support.
To be honest unless you own a iPhone 12 and unless you're struggling for storage then this isn't an upgrade path worth considering and there's nothing being missed here.
Also 2.5 hours extra battery life is dubious. Is that 2.5 more hours of iMessage? Video streaming? Maps? Call time? Screen on time?(This makes me really angry by the way Apple please just release your phone battery specs)
Lot of it is marketing filler.

Interesting. Intend to wait for real-world usage reviews in any event. Guessing a tear down will reveal the actual battery capacity.
Not sure I'll be that partial to a Pro camera tbh - not a camera nerd. Apparently, all iPhone 13's have the sensor-shift image stabilisation, FWIW.
Upgrade will be from an iPhone 6S, so imagine even an "entry-level" iPhone 13 mini would be a noticeable uplift. Although, currently looking at the iPhone 13 256GB.
