I have always wondered why, especially over the last couple years with smart phone and smart watch advancement in fitting everything into such a tiny space and wanting to fit more, someone has not come out with a similar sized (6"-7" x 2.5") Phone that is slightly concave, landscape orientation and fits nice and firmly and with the OS specifically written for this.

Can you imagine the medical tools that could be fitted into such a device, e.g. BSL monitoring. Insulin delivery. Any medication delivery.

Just a thought. 🤔💭

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I dont like any of the 3 colours of the Pro. Kinda sad they only did 3. Maybe they were expecting a lot of people to change to the base 17.

the blue is almost black and most people put it in a case these days anyway

Given the size of the camera "lump" on the 17 Pro I would have though a case was pretty much a given...

From past experience the AKL airport shops are real hit and miss. Last year they didn't have reliable stock until a month or two after release. They might have launch week stock but I wouldn't count on it. If you are going to a country with a tax refund scheme and launch day stock consider buying it there perhaps?

was hoping for likes of pb tech where you can order and collect at the airport.

debates if you’re on a 16 but anything below the 17s are feeling more significant this year.
and by that I mean could be a reveal year to see me through for another 3 years lol.

Was thinking of getting the 17 Pro given the 16 Pro had some good advantages over the 16 base model. But now that I've seen the actual specs and prices I can't see myself spending an extra $600 for the Pro given the delta between the base and pro is not much. Same size. Lots of the same features.

Probably will get the 17 base model - but will pop into the store once it's availiable and see for myself but will need to have a big 'Wow' factor to make me buy up to the Pro or Pro Max.

Definitely won't get the Air -- I find a eSIM only phone to be insane. But as someone said in another thread it may be where the market is headed. Might as well get the 17 now since it's entirely possible the 18 will be eSIM only.

Wasn't the base iphone 16 pro previously $1999, and now the base price of the 17 pro  $2349?  Looks like the difference is that they have dropped the lower 128GB storage option. So effectively it is a $350 price rise for a base model, and it's getting close to $2.5k to get a pro model now. Does make the pros more unattractive for what is essentially a telephoto camera and better video quality for many.

My 15PM is still perfectly functional.

Battery isn’t as good as it was but it’s ok. 87% capacity after a cycle count of 487.

i might get a new battery put in but I can’t really see any reason to pony up for a new one.

Don’t know what the issue with e-sim only is - you can still run 2 sims simultaneously whilst stacking a further 5 (or so) - to switch between.

i believe all iPhone models sold last year in the States were all e-sim only too

Good plan. Do you recall what state the battery was in? I still have Apple Care on mine.

Doesn’t it have to be under 80% for the battery to be considered as needing replacement?

Interesting, I have the same phone and I trash my battery by playing Pokémon Go. Have the exact same cycle count as you and I am at 91%.

Have kept the phone at max 80% charging since I got it. And I don't daily charge it on a wireless charger.

BTW: Swapping battery costs $195. I don't think that is horribly expensive.

Well the 16 pro costs $235 at the moment. Then add on transport or courier fees.

Saw a commentary on the Air. No one was crying out for a thinner iphone, yet we now have one which Apple is charging a premium price, while taking away camera functionality and battery life to boot. One for the diehard Apple enthusiast, not the general public?

They are trying things which I think is a good thing.

There's so much bleating that iPhones are not innovative anymore. When they try something different then people complain that no one asked for this.

It might be popular, it might not but at least they are trying different things.
