I'm sorry but you are asking mobile company to stop charging for a standard service. We did not ask apple to make an application that uses SMS/TXT to register with a server,we also didn't place there registration server in the UK.

Device manufacturers have the freedom to build what they want into there devices/operating systems, it doesn't mean everybody that on sells that device is responsible for it and the way it functions.

My views are mine and don't necessarily reflect that of my employer.

20c isn't much until the text validation doesn't work and it starts to add up. I have a ported number that took a week for vodafone to get going and now I can't seem to activate face time. Just seen the bill for and I have a number of text messages to the uk for activations and it is still not working.

Vodafone is happy to sell us the phone.

Vodafone is happy to see us to sign on a 24 mths contract.

When Vodafone customers question about this hidden cost for the product they just bought from Vodafone store. What they get from Vodafone is "We didn't make the iphone, ask Apple yourself, and this is a standard service that we can't stop charging."

Outstanding Customer Service!!!!

Well Done Vodafone!!!!

You haven't answered Steve's question yet. If you buy an app and it sends out a SMS without you knowing it, will you blame Vodafone or the developer?

Hi sirtaz the issue you are having is in relation to the one linked to previously in this thread and since this is a fault we are working on a resolution for those with 027 numbers on vodafone. The charges themselves only build up if you flicking the face time service on and off or firmware updates afaik.

Since the face time app is working how the company who designed it designed it to there is no fault and therefor nothing for us to pursue.

I am going to stop responding here also as it doesn't seem to do anything but give you another reason to avoid all reason and keep complaining.

There are enough examples of why this is and should be taken up with the device manufacturer.

In my point of view

-Apple is responsible for writing such a nonsense way to activate face time.

-Vodafone is responsible for let their iphone customers aware of this hidden setup fee unless today is the first time Vodafone know about this problem. May be Vodafone can't waive those charges least they could do is make their customer aware of this hidden cost.

-Vodafone is the one who getting the financial gain of this setup fee not Apple (20 cents x (new iphone users + systems restore or upgrade + warranty replacement))

-When people question about this setup fee, what they get from Vodafone "it's 20cent" "If you don't want an iphone 4, don't buy it"; call center rep accuse you sent those sms to your friends in UK; "we can't stop charging"; "talk to the service provider" etc

My answer is I blame Vodafone AND Apple. FYI, I have place a complaint to Apple about this setup fee.

This has turned very repetitive and is going nowhere. Everyone has had their say and everyone knows the response from Vodafone and where to take their complaint.

I am now locking this thread as it is not going to achieve anything more.

As a pre-emptive note, wycip there is no need for you to start another thread to carry this on.
