I wouldn't have an Ipad without a keyboard after using my ipad4 with one since almost new!

I have to admit I never saw the point of this. If you are going to do this, why not get a nice slim laptop instead?

Because its not an iPad! ;)

Maybe if they re-branded the MacBook Air to "iLap" they would create a huge demand.

Actually 4g coverage and touch screen.

At the price point, size and feature level not much comes close.

Geektastic: Nope.

iPad is the most pointless device ever made by Apple. A computer that can't run real software.

Its designed primarily for consumption, although you can do what you want to do creation wise if you wish. While it is not ideal for creation, it can do it, and while a Macbook or Win laptop is not ideal to lie down on the couch or in bed, or outside under the deck umbrella having a quiet one, the iPad will excel in that use, the use it was designed for.

In your opinion.  But then you may have missed the point of a tablet device.

Correct, GT did say the MBA is s much more useful tool. Thats correct, but in the leisure, watch/read/listen use cases, the iPad is far superior. The iPad is not a laptop replacement, it was never meant to be

True, not designed as a replacement, but since the Wife and I have had iPads, we probably use the Laptop about once a fortnight now. If we didn't have the Laptop, it would not be the end of the world.

Any speculation on a price shift for Ipad Mini gen 2?  They have dropped US$100 in USA with the launch of the Gen 3.  Although I'm a fandroid myself, I have reluctantly agreed to get the oldest son an igadget for next year's school and I don't want to jump too early and miss a price drop

The 16GB iPad Mini 2 is $150 less than the Mini 3 in the NZ Apple store right now ($449 vs $599). And the original Mini is $379.

Yep, $449 is the new reduced priced as far as I am aware. I doubt this will change again until the next release.

If they gave it a retina touch screen and 4G I'd have one in heartbeat.

livisun: if it were to arrive on Friday, it will get shipped out at 3am tomorrow nz time from shenzhen china. It will be like my iPhone 6 shipping times.

As I speculated above, I wonder if NZ orders are being sent from Sydney stock as it is replenished from China?  Tracking will tell once we start to get some numbers.

My speculationing was correct, they are being shipped from Sydney hence why we are getting them a day later than the Aussies.  Mine is "on hold" with DHL in Auckland at the moment as it missed the first run this morning.  Am expecting it to be delivered to me here in Auckland sometime between 1pm and 5pm today.

Mighty impressed given these devices were still in Sydney at 6pm last night! I wonder how many they shipped in the first run?
