kharris: I bought an apple TV gen 4 32GB the other day.  I still have an apple TV 3.

When I change Netflix regions via UnoTelly I find that on the apple TV gen 4 the Netflix home page does not update to the new regions home page.  If I use the search function I find titles for the new region so the region has definitely changed.  I have killed the app and restarted it and it makes no difference.  The only way that I can get the Netflix home page to update to the new region is to logout of Netflix and log back in.  This is a bit painful though.  When I try the same thing on my Apple TV 3 the home page is updated as soon as the app is restarted.  This suggests it is an issue with the Netflix app for AT4.  Has anyone else come across this?

Thanks
Kirk.

Sounds like it - apparently the Netflix ATV4 app caches the home screen for around 24 hours so it would normally update the next day unless you logout/in. I saw something in another thread/forum that its a known issue. According to that thread, search will still work based on the region you set in unotelly, but the homescreen will look odd until it refreshes.

Thanks a lot... could you point me to the thread? I would like to read it but I cannot find it.

I found if you change profiles on the atv4 and select your current profile it upades the home screen

Alot better then using the ATV keyboard to login again

What do you mean by changing profiles? select your current profile?

Netflix allows you to create multiple profiles, so the viewing history of each profile will be logged separately. If you have more than one profile, you're asked to select one when starting up the app. So when you have teenage kids, Netflix won't suggest you watch "MTV presents The Pepsi Nikki Minaj Karaoke Twerk Marathon Challenge"

To get around the caching issue, it sounds like switching profiles should do the trick, although I haven't tried this myself.

Scroll all the way to the top and there 3 things - middle one which i think is "select your current profile" and has an icon with kids in the background in it I think - select that, then current profile and it reload page to new region. Do not know if it there if you only have 1 profile - have not had 1 profile in a long time - add profiles after my niece visited and started getting my little pony in my recommended list...

So you don't have to change to a different profile, just re-select the current one?

yeah - re-select current profile or a different one - does not matter, just need to re-select any profile to force reload and refresh of cache.

Interesting I thought I tried that.... I will have another go when I get home.  Thanks.

New 7 tennis app on the Australian store, providing live streams of the tennis. Hopman cup and Brisbane international on at the moment, will have the Australian open on too. Quality is pretty good at the highest bit rate, but it is quite changeable on my vdsl connection. I'm assuming you need unotelly or similar (I have unotelly) to watch like the +7 app

Edit: looks like the two streams of the actual channels work(7mate and 7two) but none of the highlight videos or other live streams work.

Interesting - this did not work for me.... I even created a different profile to swap to but it did not refresh.  When I test it I like to use Japan because it is easy to see if the home page has changed.  I think it may change once initially but then once it is set it stays that way.

The only way I could get it to refresh is to log out and log back in.

I asked that this thread be unlocked because I am considering getting an Apple TV4 to fill the gap left by our local video store closing. Since I can't hire Blu-rays anymore, my cunning plan has me hiring movies from iTunes in full HD. I have tried via chromecast but was disappointed by the results when put on a projection screen.
I understand that the ATV4's memory will allow it to cache, and so avoid too much buffering as I only have adsl. I am not too concerned about the remote not having Siri functionality, although I understand "the cheque's in the mail" as far as a software update to activate it goes. There have probably been updates since this thread was last active if anybody can update me as to current state of the ATV4 that would be appreciated.
I was quite impressed by it when I visited the Apple Store in Brisbane last week. Hopefully the Siri function was all that is different. Should have bought one while I was there as it was slightly cheaper when exchange rate was taken into account.

Any chance the OP could amend the title to reflect the Apple TV 4 (or at least Gen 4) because when the 5 is released it will no longer be the 'New AppleTV'.

Kogan has the 32gb for $229. I mean Dick Smith NZ mark 2

The memory is useful for lots of apps - and there will be heaps of apps - but if youre ok with just streaming then 32gb is ample.

I like it - it's fast than all the other atv's - and the remote is cool. Siri NZ will be nice if it ever arrives
