Stumbled across Apple TV4 app available tonight - not sure when it was released.  Looks good.

So it is...

I see the live TV option goes automatically to playing TV2.... I wonder if there are other streams?

Also I am interested to see if the app will autoplay next episodes.... having a play with it now.

scroll up and you will see  1 2 d on the left hand side when live screem is playing

or you can see it on the home page half way down

and can't see  a tv guide or whats next on

Thanks... I stumbled across it in the end.  I must say it seems to be a pretty well designed app... which quite honestly surprises me a little given my experiences of TVNZ on other platforms.

Wahoo, about time. Will download it this weekend.

Thanks TVNZ! Makes the AppleTV a pretty comprehensive device for NZ.

And being on a platform such as TvOS, I would expect the apps to be updated as and when required, rather than fade away as they do on TV's

This is great news for Apple TV users. With the imminent demise of the TiVo service I’ve got a reasonable shot at simply not replacing it. 95% of what we watch on TiVo is on TVNZ / +HR=E.

Yay, finally! I'm going to download tonight. That was the last of the things I had to airplay/cast so now ATV does everything I need it to natively.

The press release:

TVNZ OnDemand has now launched on Apple TV, giving users access to TVNZ OnDemand and live streaming of all TVNZ channels. From local favourites Shortland Street and My Kitchen Rules New Zealand, to hit international shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and Home and Away, all OnDemand programmes will be available to stream on Apple TV.

The new app gives viewers choice and control over how they can watch TVNZ content.  Along with a straightforward interface, the specialised app features voice search integration. Server side ad insertion will also provide a seamless viewing experience.

The free app is compatible with 4th generation versions of Apple TV and is in the App Store now.

A full list of TVNZ OnDemand compatible devices can be found here - https://www.tvnz.co.nz/content/tvnz/ondemand/help/how-to-get-tvnz.html

Looking good!  I wonder if we will ever get 5.1 audio on the IPTV streams or at least have the option for those of us on fibre.

Here's hoping it's better than the app on the Panasonic PVR. That'll often play the ad, then play the content with audio only. You have to restart the stream, including the pre-roll ad.

I complained to Panasonic and freeview about exactly that.  The Panasonic recorder manager rang me the next day.  Even though it is a freeview issue it is nice that they acknowledge their customers issues.

Freeview basically said it's a known issue.  Great help there!

From my playing so far the appleTV app looks really good.  It even works well on appleTV 5 (4K). And because the appleTV 5 connects always in 4K HDR (if available) and does it's own upscalling, the pics look really nice too.

Works great! Even seems to be working with my DNS unblocker on which I didn’t think worked due to other services being unblocked (Three now and sky go doesn’t work). So I’m stoked!

It’s been a long time coming. Been enjoying it tonight. Just in time to replace TiVo.
