Shadowfoot:Teeps: Yup, nothing else I own gets updated after the product is no longer sold so I think Apple is being pretty fair, even though I do understand the pain as I'm sure it could cope with some if these extra features.
Really? I have lots of software that gets updated after it was sold to me. Operating systems often have security fixes and sometimes new features are added. What about the "free" applications that the OS manufacturer provides?
I didn't say when sold to me, I said when it was no longer sold, there is a big difference.
When a product is a current item you very often get software updates, but when that product, whether it is hardware or software, is no longer sold or has been superceeded with a new item you very often (I will admit I won't say always) don't get updates to that product.
Do you honestly expect software/firmware updates for products that you bought many years ago that manufacturers have brought out new updated versions of? If features continued to be added to old products for free you're not likely to upgrade and they won't make any money!
