I too have cancelled my Apple order and been down to the local Telecom shop, my 16GB black is unmarked and copying from ITunes now. They also matched our home phone number with the new $29 plan so we may keep that.

Mine was perfect right out of the box!

Actually got a really cool number from Telecom but never mind :P

I do feel a bit stink walking in there and getting it a cheeky way but they did offer it!

Just using the phone setting it up. The extra screen space is definitely welcomed as well as it being lighter.

The new headphones are much more bassy too - which I like. Probably because they sit further in the ear.

Overall very happy with my purchase!

Obviously telecom knows what they're doing. As the shipment for online orders near they offer this option to milk out people.

Can you purchase the phone by itself without the $29 plan? Can't really be bothered with the mucking around with that.

Ok so let me get this straight.....

There is no termination fee for the Telecom Open Smart Plan?

How do I cancel it after the one month?

And what happens if you want to go to Telecom Prepaid after the one month? Just ring them/go in store and get them to switch to prepaid, or will this require a brand new sim?

If so, am I able to just purchase a prepaid nano sim from them and put in the phone and only buy one month of the Open Smart Plan? (and just not use the one month of calls/texts/data on the plan)

Nope have asked already.  For $29 I'll happily donate it to Telecom for selling it first.

Sounds dodgy, sure it say open term but most people just want the phone so making them get a plan for a month just to make a measly $29....

Possibly but they probably want to save their time. Their policy is $29 for a minimum of 1 month then you are free to either cancel the number, or switch to prepay.

Normally telcos charge plans pro rata so you pay a month in advance so wouldn't you be paying for the cost of the phone plus 2 months plan rental so just under $60??

So I can just ask for a prepaid nano sim while I'm there as well? And then cancel the $29 plan after 1 month and use the prepaid nano sim and not use the $29 thing for the month cos.... it's only $29! :P

Do you just ring them to cancel or what...

Just purchased an iPhone 5 from Telecom as well! It is such a beautiful device.

For everyone else, did you have to pay the $29 up front? I just realized I did not pay the $29, however, I still have the plan. Anyone else encounter this?
