ajobbins: I'm keen to hear how it performs on an iPhone 4. No doubt my dad will be calling me today to ask if he should upgrade.

After a day of playing it works just fine on my iPhone 4 32gb (opening week special).

I've had a day of use and play...both iPhone 5 and iPad Mini working a treat.

Not sure about some of the "features" or the look, but it's like having new devices to play with, so I am happy...for now.

I upgraded my ipad 2. Definitely a bit laggy, especially when opening an app. The control panel is also very laggy, can take 5 seconds or more just to load it, and it crashes often. Noticed that they have now removed the cool ipad clock. Now is an ugly plain looking clock. Also no blurred transparency behind the notification screen
Hopefully they will fix all these in the next release. Wouldn't say it is a big improvement, mainly interface stuff, which makes apps look a lot more android and google like. Some of the animations icon and launch are a bit annoying, they look like they have been done more a 'wow' factor. Not sure if you can turn them off. They had animations a bit in os6 but they were far less in your face. The wall paper background parallax animation is weird, because it seems to take a second before it kicks in, so is probably laggy too.

I notice iTunes still doesn't sync all day events properly. I am thinking perhaps in order to remain innovative, Apple developers are only able to write new defects and not fix old ones.

Also noticed that IOS7 now imports all photos regardless (the old version didn't do sub-folders) - so not sure how to stop it doing this as I don't want it selecting all photos in sub-folders.

I actually think it looks better on the ipad, as the icons are all bunched together. But it does feel very android/google ish. I think safari is a big improvement on the old version.

Microsoft has just updated outlook.com to use imap4 and not pop3; my hotmail account was using pop3 and really causing the ipad to lag. Have removed the account and setup the account again, which defaults it to imap4.

Something to be aware of. Not an issue with gmail or iCloud....

Okay it updated fine on my iPhone 4. Took about 15 minutes. Even with my bastardisation of itunes mobile apps, nothing went wrong or missing.

Performance is alright, the odd transition might have a small stutter, but things seem to load at a reasonable pace.

Safari seems much improved in heavily scripted/ajax type pages. For example the desktop version of pricespy when applying product filters, nearly drove me crazy it was so slow/unresponsive before, is much better now.

Im not sure that I like the different styles of even core apps. Sometimes you get a black on-screen keyboard with white letters (Facetime app), other times you get a white keyboard with black letters. I'd much prefer some more consistency (Apple should decide which OSK is best and use it always). But oh well.

I guess I miss iOS6 in that regard. I never did want to see it go. I found the skeuomorphism endearing, and the performance/optimisation fantastic. The design was simple in the way that 99% of operations were easy/obvious without hidden buttons etc. Anyway, I'm not one to stand in the way of progress, and in 2 months i'll probably struggle to even remember what previous iOS releases looked like.

Now to try it on the missus iPhone 5, not that i'm expecting any problems, but it will be good to compare in the performance and see if I'm missing any effects/transitions etc.
