This is turning into dog eat dog!

The information we need to know is what stores are going to have stock for July 11. That way we at least know where to take our chances. Then it is a matter of how desperate you are and how long you are prepared to line up. I can see some people beginning to line up from early next week.

And can anyone enlighten me as to the etiquette for 'lining up, retaining your place (for toilet stops) etc.

Hopefully your first comment does not give the answer to lining up in NZ!

Have not resorted to a line up sine 1989 when lining up overnight for U2 concerts in Australia.. only to finally reach the front of line to hear announced that a second concert had now been scheduled...

Back then no Internet sales, and were not offering phone orders!

Then again winter over there was no where near as cold.. more like a summer Christchurch evening!

i once lined up outside a shop for over a 24hour period.. i wasnt going to queue that early but i drove past and people were queueing so i decided to join em.. It was for the grand opening of bond and bond in nelson in about 1997 i was all of 16 at the time.. They had $1 specials, discmans, a few tvs, gameboys.. basically you had to be in quick to get the $1 specials as they only had a certain amount at that price.. i ended up about 5th in the queue (grew to about 25 during the night/early morning, then to over a hundred b4 the doors opened) we had the radio station down, macca's bringing us breakfast etc etc, and i landed on the front page of the paper.. was an awesome night and an experience i wont forget.. cant really see it hapening for the iphone tho. Didnt have any problems with food breaks or toilet breaks, most people arn't complete ass's and would let you goto the toilet!

So in summary, over two years we can expect the TCO of ownership for an iPhone in NZ is likely to be in line with what that table indicates.

Now with the horrendously expensive cost of plans in NZ, would that bring the upfront cost much lower!

One piece of info I was informed from VFNZ customer service was that the phone will be offered to those already on account without the need to break the contract and then lock into a new 24months. She used the term 'handset upgrade'.

That may have a different cost, but had no information on the prices.
