But they are designed to be used on the go, and thus have a limited life through wear and tear and battery degradation. No point having bullet proof internals if the outer materials and battery give up long before.

Did you read the article before commenting?

I have read the article and I think Dafman's comment is valid.

As I don't see what Blinky Bill was getting at I think I am entitled to ask for clarification. I wasn't aware questions were restricted to only certain people.

The article notes that the batteries are replaceable, ear pads are very easily replaceable, electronics are replaceable. Compare that to the Sony’s/Bose’s etc.

So dafman’s comment indicated to me he (I assume a ‘he’) hadn’t actually read the article. And thus the comment is made in ignorance of the content of the article in this case.

I think it’s fairly obvious that if you quote someone’s text in a comment, then that comment relates to the quotation. But perhaps Technofreak had omitted an important punctuation mark in his response, which would have assisted in comprehension.

After re-reading my post, I see that I could have worded it better to avoid confusion.

Without putting words in Dafman's mouth I understood he was saying that when it's time to replace or repair parts like batteries most people see the item as being at it's use by date and throw it away rather than repair. Therefore any extra design cost that provides "bullet proof internals" is largely wasted. You don't have to read the article to be able form that opinion.

My understanding from that article is the consumables (batteries, earpads) on all three are replaceable. So no difference between the three on that score. Other parts are replaceable too but I'd expect the cost of replacement of many of these would preclude most owners from bothering, so the ability to replace them is a moot point in most cases.

Yes, easily replaceable - but only of practical use if Apple provide replacement parts for purchase. I see they currently advertise replacement ear pads, but nothing else. So if you can't purchase replacement batteries or other components, my earlier comments stand.

However, if Apple let owners replace the parts that are prone to wear over time with use, then I'd happily recommend these from a sustainability perspective alone. I'd even consider a purchasing myself (once they update the ridiculous bra case).

Yes, a He.

(and not all opinions which differ from yours are necessarily made from a place of ignorance, just saying).

Is there anyone who's been using these for a while who can offer any feedback? Reviews seem to be extremely positive in relation to audio performance, but I'm interested in whether the condensation and power saving problems are bothersome in real world usage, along with any other weird 'glitchiness' that Apple products tend to suffer from.

I'm trying to choose between AirPods Max, versus the much cheaper Sennheiser Momentum 3.
