astroboy: Is anyone queueing a JB H Fii in Wellington?

Walked past it, must be 50-60 people there... kept walking.

Edit: about the same numbers outside DSE on Featherston St...

thought about picking up one from youbee in Newmarket on drive to work. Went past and there were about 20 - 30 people queuing so too hard. Will just try later and if they have run out am happy to wait.

I ended up joining the JB Hi Fi queue at 8:10. I was gone with my purchase by 8:30 and the queue had evaporated

Rocked up to JB JiFi in New Lynn, they had opened at 8, I got there about 8.45.
Got the last 64Gb 4G white in stock :)
It is amazing, typing on it now. The display has just blown me away, never seen anything like it. Looks pretty much indistinguishable to iPhone 4S but giant!

Stoked!

Cheers,
Joseph

Arrived at DSE Newmarket just after 7.00 am ready for their 8.00 am opening and was first in line. By the time the store opened there were 10-12 people in the queue.

Got the model I was wanting but haven't opened it yet because I'm at work and will wait until I get home.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Walked over 10 mins ago, JB's Willis St is out of 64's but has some flavours of 32 and plenty of 16's.

So they have no demo units even at the Apple Stores?? I am just interested in the screen itself, the device, no real interest, but the resolution sounds interesting.

I see DSE are advertising them has having 4G - seems a bit redundant considering.

I'm impressed that there actually seems to be decent stock of a new Apple device on launch-day for the first time ever in NZ.

Anyone know if the batteries in them are compatible with inductive charging pads?

Also - I know they're just MagnumMac with a new name, but "Yoobee"? Seriously? Sounds like a name for cheap gimmick store.

Sauntered into Noel Leeming just before 10am, no queues, no customers. Grabbed my new iPad, they through in a screen protector too.

Got home, went to apply the screen protector, woops, they threw in the Samsung screen protector for my new iPad.

Now I have to drive back to Noels, get me the correct protector. Karma for my queue avoidance.

props to Apple and resellers for a smooth launch. Never leave it to a telco with exclusive rights to do the job right.

Wandered into my local Albany Yoobee store, asked if they had any 32G Wifi + 3G ones left, not only did they have some left, but choice of colour as well...black it is, currently transferring info from previous iPad across, frying an egg on it as well, nice new feature;-)
