Looks like a shipping error from this site here

http://www.macrumors.com/2010/07/29/second-round-of-iphone-4-launches-begins-in-australia/

"Update: We've heard that both Vodafone and JB Hi Fi are claiming that a "shipping error" is responsible for the cancellation of today's launch in New Zealand. "

I'm pretty sure shipping stock before launch will be a clause in the Vodafone Apple agreement :) oops.

Presume you guys have seen this? I managed to get an email out of Apple PR this morning, but Voda is still "not allowed" to comment:

NZCoderGuy: Update from NewstalkZB Twitter:
"Vodafone has been left red-faced over what was meant to have been the launch of the iPhone 4.

A spokesman greeted around a dozen people waiting outside its store on Auckland's Queen Street and told them it can't sell the new phones at the moment. People waiting were offered a complementary coffee.

Vodafone says it can't comment on what's stalling the launch and is directing media enquiries to Apple."

Source: http://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/newsdetail1.asp?storyID=179644

Awesome! Free coffee. Makes up for it. Not that they weren't getting free drinks in Australia or anything...

Vodafone can't comment. Apple won't comment. A bit like when you have problems with your ISP reselling Telecom wholesale broadband!

I would imagine that the price point of $49 for the 16gb $250 per month price is wrong more likely to be $149. Maybe an error from Vodafone

So $1196 to get a 16GB today by buying and cancelling. $1395 for a 32GB.

That is the phone on $40 plan, plus early termination and first months fee.
