I wouldn't have an Ipad without a keyboard after using my ipad4 with one since almost new!

I have to admit I never saw the point of this. If you are going to do this, why not get a nice slim laptop instead?

Because its not an iPad! ;)

And that is more or less the only appeal they have....

Less actual use than a laptop but a more fashionable accessory.

Not trying to be argumentative, and I realise I wont change your mind, but I got my girl friend an Ipad after our laptop crapped out. Initially she took mine and wouldn't give it back so I got her a 16GB one as 128gb was wasted on her! In the over a year since the laptop died she has not once missed having an actual computer. She thought a lot along the line you are expressing here until she experienced the device for herself.

It simply won't run the software I need, nor does it have enough plugs etc etc etc.

If all you do is play games, watch TV and surf the net whilst on the couch it's probably great - but I have an iPhone 6 Plus for that!

If you want more get an MBA! iPad can do it all, but creative isn't ideal, consumption is.

Perfect reply!

As you said "If all you do is play games, watch TV and surf the net whilst on the couch it's probably great "  thats really the point. It isn't a laptop replacement, it fills a different need with some overlap. If it ran OS X it would be poor for that, screen too small, no keyboard, no mouse. Again, head back to the MBA. However if you do the "If all you do is play games, watch TV and surf the net whilst on the couch it's probably great " on an MBA that probably isn't a great experience either, horses for courses

I am starting to have buyers remorse after going to the ipad air2 from my ipad4

I cant really tell much difference so far in speed or anything else , touch id is nice but bot $500 nice which is the extra i spent if manage to sell my old ipad.

These devices just dont age the same as the iphones do!

Your right. They are the same device, and even though the speed is significantly faster you don't see that in real life as there are other factors involved. The best spin for you is that you have the latest, which is great, and you will know now to hang onto it longer. I have learnt that myself, unless the future versions bring a feature tI want hat my Air is missing I will use the Air as long as it's fine.

When I went from a 3rd gen to the Air earlier this year I found that the decrease in weight was really beneficial. I often got fatigued holding the 3rd gen for a long period of time, especially if I wanted to hold it in one hand while reading.

I picked up one in Takapuna this morning, Gold 128GB Wifi
Upgraded from an ipad 3 and really appreciating the lighter weight and faster speed. I restored from cloud backup nice and quick compared to the restore I had to do on my 3 after the 8.1 upgrade crashed and forced me to restore.

My wife is still using the ipad 2 (lighter than the 3) and we wont be upgrading it to ios8

Yes it is a lot lighter, but when i get a keyboard case that wont matter!

The size is however a little better.

Again is it $500 better? Not sure.

I went from an iPad 3 to the iPad Air 2 and I think it's fantastic. I've only ever used the smart cover, as I like to keep the device as thin as light as possible. So for me the difference in size and weight feels huge.

The drop in weight from the iPad 3 is slightly less than a third, and on paper that doesn't sound earth shattering to me - but in the hand it makes a massive difference.

However, I can see that if you went the route of having a full case and keyboard the difference in weight and thickness would be far less pronounced.

On a separate note - I was disappointed to see Dick Smith was having a "Clearance Sale" of there iPads (they haven't received the new ones yet) at prices that will be doing a great disservice to anyone who buys them. E.g. The iPad Air 128GB Cellular was at $1199, which is only $50 less than the same iPad Air 2. And no surprise they had nothing up to indicate new models have been released.

I just realised that the Ipad Air2 hasn't got the rotation lock button on the side!

Well as I can't get the keyboard until December I have been using the ipad naked, and the weight if impressive. I am also finding that it sits amongst my papers very well in my laptop bag and almost feels like there is nothing there! Will still be getting the keyboard, but I can see the difference now!
