mrtoken: We already have the lease/upgrade thing for new phones via the telcos (currently 2degrees and vodafone). Also sounds like spark might be doing something soon as well.

littleheaven: I'll be ordering direct from Apple but I'll be in Australia over the school holidays when it's likely to arrive. Can I trust the guys at work to keep it safe? If I wait to order until I get back, will there be a massive waiting time?

So the the new prices did go down a little bit from the price increases in March BUT are either the same or $50 more compared to the original prices a year ago

I don't think so. I am interested in the iPhone 6s 64Gb and this is now $1400. Based on the above that's a $150 increase on previous prices, or $250 increase on previous launch.
I have to admit I have some reservations about whether it's worth upgrading my 5S at this price, but as others have pointed out the dollar has dropped enough that we're probably going to have to expect price increases like this on all imported goods.
littleheaven: I'm ordering the 6s 64GB in rose gold tomorrow. My boss is going to babysit it for me if it turns up at work while I'm overseas. Having looked at how much storage I use on my 5, and with what I've read about app thinning, I'm pretty confident I won't need a bigger one than that.

Just be aware that if you are going to use it for a lot of 4K filming, you will quickly use up quuiiiite a bit of space..

Yes, true. However I have nothing capable of playing at 4K so I will likely shoot any video at the default HD 30fps. I don't shoot much video, to be honest. Then again, for an extra $200 you do get double the storage which is a big leap. Ah, dilemmas.

It will likely be 4k at 30fps, not 60fps, and I doubt the files will be 4x the size of HD. I suspect it will quite a low bit rate. My DSLR type of 4K digital camera has a 100MBit/s rate, but I can't see the iphones being that high. But hte benfit of shooting 4k, is that you can downsize it to HD, and it should produce a far sharper HD video with more informtion in it.

tardtasticx: Did anyone else get an email about the mini me thing?
Details are so vague. Do we get a number in a queue if we pre-register for that?
