marmel: Are we going to crack 100 pages before lunch?

Perhaps? If more drama comes up.

Question: If I sign up today and they end the 3Gb offer on "1st September" will I get 1 or 2 months of 3Gb data?

Been that way all morning Jared ;).

I note that the Vodafone website has the white iPhone 4 advertised/pictured... misleading much?

Why are people complaining about contract breaking fee's? You are getting a large discount on a product with the promises you are going to stick with a term of service, then breaking it immediately and still expecting to keep the discount?

What other handsets have that kind of subsidy on them?

I have 6 weeks to run on my iphone contract, do you think I would have to pay the $150 resign fee? If I buy today.

We're not complaining, we're actually quite happy about them. Since VF isn't selling outright you can buy one on a plan and break immediately and the damage is only about $25

Essentially it's a $25 premium for a day 0 purchase you can take to another carrier.

Probably not... theres usually a 3-6 month window when fee don't apply... depending on your initial plan.

I'm sure they are confident they will sell all their stock today so will be happy to accept your $150 if you can't wait 6 weeks.  You need to weight up whether the 4 is worth $25/week to have for that time.  Bragging rights only stretch so far...

I'm going to do this:

Buy iPhone 4 on $40 plan

$619

Pay $40 for 6 months = $240

Break contract after 6 months = $315

Add them:

$1174

$74 more than buying outright, and you get 6 months of calls, txts and 3GB data till sept. Not bad huh?
Any thoughts on this?

No you are missing the point.. Vodafone isn't selling the iPhone 4 outright - for use on any plan/network and apple aren't selling yet. So the only option is to go on Vodafone's iPhone plan, then cancel for roughly the same amount of dosh..
