Horseychick:

I purchased the 6S+ brand new in Aus last year and got the 10% GST back, but didn't pay GST on entry to NZ so it def worked out cheaper.  I didn't import it as new because I'd already opened the box and used it so I didn't think I needed to declare it.

Did you have to take it out of Oz still unopened and unused, still in the box etc, in order to get the GST back?

There has been some speculation on what the removal of the analog audio jack means for DRM on audio files. Writers at the verge and boingboing have highlighted some issues. Here is a summary article.

From memory I showed them the receipt, the box and the phone inside - so opened, but no one queried whether I had been using it or not (I had)

being unused is not a requirement for OZ's GST refund scheme

I just e-mailed Bose asking if they will have a lightning inline cable for the QC25s, don't really want to use an adapter

Any headphone maker I suspect will have to pay to use the lighting plug, so the headphones will likly cost more, and can only be used on apple devices. That is if they bother. I wouldn't want to pay hundreds for headphones that have a proprietary plug on it, especially as Apple have a knack of changing the plugs over time. I would stick to the old connector and use an adapter, even though they are ugly and cumbersome to use. Are they going to remove the audio plug from the ipods and ipads too I wonder?

What I think would have been a cool idea, is if apple had put a lightning plug on both the top and bottom of the iphone. It then allows you to charge while connected to audio, and also allows you the option to connect audio to both the bottom and top of the device.

My assumption is that Bose will make a lightning cable available that can replace the 3.5mm cable supplied with the QC25s. So, consumers can choose which cable they want to use based on what's compatible with their particular device.

I'm looking over the Tech-Specs for iPhone 7 and this bit caught my eye:

  • iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are not compatible with existing micro-SIM cards.

Any idea what this means?

SIM cards come in 3 sizes - standard, micro, and nano. But iPhones haven't used micro-SIMs since the 4S.

Do spark or Vodafone offer a "new iPhone every year" plan?

Im interested in the $1600 model (128GB 7 plus) so would be willing to pay that off over 24 months ($67 per month) but have the option to switch to a new phone every 12 months (and resign for another 24 months)
