Hey all.
I woke up this morning to a couple of texts from Telecom to tell me that my mobile data usage was 80% and then 100%!

So I check my usage via the phone and it shows the picture below -

So I'm like wtf?!

8.9 MB, then 922kb then 922kb etc..

I haven't added a new app or anything for months (I do anything like that on my iPod Touch).
I haven't changed anything on my phone as far as I know.

What can be doing it?

I got no idea. I didn't OK anything as far as I know...
This is an old iPhone 3G. I don't think it has Cloud services?

Where did you go on the phone to get to that screen?

tdgeek, the image is of a site  viewed in Safari where you can look up your XT data - how much you've used etc.

The page I showed was at http://sphone.telecom.co.nz/mobile/view/account-info-view

(Type the above into Mobile Safari).

You can view plans and activities, top up your mobile, change your plan, view balances and how much data you've used etc.

Below is another view (I have blacked out my number)

I usually have it as a shortcut on my iphone desktop, so I can just jump there when I want to check.

Ah ok, I use that URL too but I can only see the summary as per your last post. I am on postpaid seems you are on prepay? Maybe that is why I don't get detailed usage as shown on your first post?

tdgeek, could be.
From that last screen shot, I tap on "Plans and Activities" and then Recent Usage.

Yes, I am on prepay.

l43a2, yes I should. I don't think I can turn off just data on an iphone 3g though? I'd have to put the phone on airplane mode.

You can turn mobile data off without going into flight mode.

On a side note, just got a press release about Clueful. It might help you find the culprit app.

And on this note... You should not have a smartphone without a mobile data plan. Too costly if you have any app doing things in the background.

Hmm, Clueful looks useful. Won't work on my old 3G though. Says it needs 3GS or higher...
I would have upgraded ages ago, but can't afford it atm.

I know a good fix; get a better data deal or turn 3g off. I only get 1.1gb on my data plan so I really don't get this problem :)
