I have just seen this on 3 deals.

I am not a fan of 3 deals as they can be really dodgy to deal with

http://www.3deals.co.nz/site/deal-2B2E5F94/iPhone-5-Adapter.html

This adaptor looks like it is purely for charging so not actually an adaptor at all!

And for only a small amount less that one that actually works!

Best to avoid these products. They aren't Apple authorised and you'll likely be disappointed with it. Manufacturers are only now starting to produce authorised adapters and aren't for sale yet (I don't think).

Given that the lightning pin out are dynamic, ( not sure if they have fixed ones for power) I would steer clear of any rouge adaptors, you never know what the device will do

Charge and sync ones like that work fine, but yeah, that price is a bit absurd. Most of those daily deal sites are high priced tho so its in keeping with the rest.

was pretty much trying to say these are useless, as they don't allow audio or video playback, when the apple one for $49 including postage is not a lot more expensive.

this seems to be the MO for 3 Deals, represent something as a value alternative but in the end it is just crap!
