Hi All,

Im not much of a ITunes user, but I need to help a friend out.

He has a iphone 4s on iOS6 with a bunch of photos on it. He has icloud and contacts/mail/Photostream etc etc working.

He has a PC, without iTunes on it.

Whats the best way (over wifi) to get the photos onto:

a) The PC
b) The Cloud

Once in the cloud, how does one view the photos with a PC?

From iCloud help,

On a Windows computer:

To use all the features of Photo Stream, you need to have iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later installed on your computer.

You can also use the SkyDrive or Dropbox apps on the iphone

Hi - he shouldn't need iTunes to get the photos onto the PC - just use a standard iPod/iPhone USB cable to connect to the comp and it should show up as a device that you can grab the photos from.
There are apps available for the iPhone that will allow you to do a wifi photo transfer from phone to PC (most use a web browser), or as mentioned, you could use an app from the likes of Dropbox to upload photos and then download them (just check you're getting the full resolution copies of the photos).

Right so that app/control panel will let me manage? view? my photos?

I logged into the web portal but of course there was nothing about photos in there!

Yeah i did that - the prompt comes up, but when I click on it to xfer the photos, none of the next stages come up (where you select the photos etc.

Can drop box be made to auto upload on the iphone? 5Gb limit for iPhone isnt it?

Photo stream photos don't go to the web part of iCloud. So if you're on a Windows pc then you need to download the iCloud control panel programme as mentioned.

With photo stream enable in there and on the iPhone, once connected to wifi, the photos will automatically go from the phone to the pc in full resolution. They show up in a Photo Stream folder inside My Photos, or wherever else you choose for it to go when you set up the control panel.

Dropbox can now be setup to automatically do the same thing.

Pretty sure, though, that all your photos will then also be added to your Dropbox account which is only 2GB. Whereas with photo stream there is no limit.

Hi -
Sorry - not sure what 'prompt' you're seeing on the PC when you plug the phone in (I don't speak very good PC) - but there should be some transfer method...
iPhone app for wifi photo transfer called 'wifi photo' (getting very hard in the app store to individualize apps) works for me.

I use phoyosync for transfering from iphone to ipad it can also tranfer to pc.

it works well for me and I have put it on a number of ipads at work and have had no complaints.

when you plug in the iphone to the pc you should be able to open it like a storage device and copy and paste the photo's

pretty straight forward.
