Is there any good apps to clean and speed up the IPad. It is an IPad 1, but think it just needs a clean up. Can these be defraged?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Do a full reboot, hold down power and home button until the white Apple logo appears, then let go.

Before that close any apps in the running apps action, quickly double click home button to see those. Those apps are in a idle state, rarely are they consuming CPU, but mentally note them for now. They do use memory.

Is it slow on everything? All the time?

The reboot should close all running apps automatically.. Easiest way is to just do a reboot. (like you and I said.)

Good point. Hope he mentally notes what was open, in case he has an errant app that is the cause.

Probably just a modern adware bloat app. Who knows, it might even so what it promises. ..

I've found with my Ipad 1 that removing all unused apps and keeping it to only the ones I use seems to make a big difference to speed. Whenever its seems to slow down I go through and clean up unwanted apps.

i have ipad 2 and iphone 4 ... with every iOS upgrade the darn thing gets slower. i am NOT kidding ... but then again this statement is not exactly scientific

apple just wants you to get a new one :) i didn't because of what they did to samsung
