There seems to be a lot of chatter about 6.1.2 causing battery drain issues with their iPhone 5

http://discussions.apple.com/community/iphone/iphone_hardware

What are the experiences people here in NZ have with 6.1.2

I am thinking of staying on 6.1.0 for the time being.

Yes I've noticed it on mine. After around 2 hours its down to around 80% with no use at all, it would normally be still at 97-98%

Hope they fix it soon.

We had to upgrade to 6.1.2 for work to get over the exchange bug issue. Now my phone suddenly seems barely able to make it through a day, previously 2 days easy. No other changes made to apps usage etc...so yes I think its either a spectacular coincidence or yet another bug laden iOS update. BTW that's on an iPhone4.

It's either
A. An amazing coincidence
Or
B. A dazzling display of common sense.

Same issue here and is't an Iphone4. It began draining with no apparent reason. I was able to last 2 days, now, barely able to do 12 hours! What is happening with version 6.1.2? I have application upgrade almost every day, but, even if I stop every application, it drains!

My 4S is draining faster than normal.

Like others, my uage hasn't changed but the idle usage of battery is far worse than ever before.

Hi - a couple of factors that can often cause higher battery use than normal (for me) after syncing with iTunes is that it decides to sign in my iPhone to my iTunes account allowing all my apps to 'phone home' all the time to check for updates. Go to Settings > iTunes Store and sign out to save some battery. I also like to check my mail manually (which also saves battery) but sometimes it decides to change settings to fetch after syncing with iTunes (altho' not so much under iOS 6.x.x) so I go back into my Mail settings and ensure everything is set to manual under there (also under the Advanced tab).

Cheers,
Mike

I bought 2x iPhone 5 Yesterday. 1 for the wife and one for me. Updated the IOS and yes the battery life is really bad. on Moderate use the battery drains way quicker. I upgraded due to the exchange bug but that might haven broken something else in the process. I did look at some websites in regards to saving the battery.

http://www.imore.com/how-fix-battery-life-problems-ios-6-or-iphone-5

One of the steps it says to turn off location. DONT DO THIS. You can turn off apps that use location at the bottom. The location needs to be on in order to find your phone if you lose it.

But some of the things there seems to help.

I have no issues on 6.1.2 with battery drain.
I'm not connected to Exchange and don't run BlueTooth... so it's all smooth sailing here on a 4S.

Found my problem, the automatic clock setting when changing time zone was on. Removed it (General->date & Time -> Automatic : I deactivated. I wondering if an upgrade did put back this setting to auto. I am now back to normal battery usage.
