I notice that TVNZ has finally launched its On Demand app for iPod and iPad.

Yeah pretty cool app, but can anyone verify this for me? A customer came in today after purchasing an Apple TV and told us that the app would not stream across to her tv because of some HDMI restriction from Freeview. She brought her ipad into work and one of the guys tried to get it to work via the ipad HDMI adaptor, but it came up with the same result.

Yes I had heard this too, in that it won't currently allow you to output to a TV.

Maybe that is one reason it isn't being released on android, at least yet, becuase that maybe more difficult to lock down?

You also can't play any videos in the app if your device is jailbroken.
Install xcon via cydia to overcome this.

aaaaah, many thanks for this - my wife and I were thinking that the problem was possibly due to high demand or other error - didn't think of it being a Jailbreak issue.
xcon plus xcon alias seems to have things working well (I wasn't sure which tweak was best so I went for xcon alias and it also installed xcon).

I have watched a couple of snippets and it appears to be really quite good.

Managed to Airplay it to the Apple TV last night and was happy with the result.

Is your phone jailbroken? I am unable to airplay with this app, which renders it completely useless as far as I can see (watching TV on a small phone screen is not fun)
