Trying to sort an issue for a user at work - In the past we have been able to access Xtra mail no problems, but since updateding/changing his password on his personal email accounts (his wife thought it would be best after the security breach) he is unable to. Is asked to verify his email at yahoo.com. However nothing appears/happens in his personal email

See attached image

anyone else having/had/seen a problem like this? Even Telecom's site does not have anything on its site regarding this.

Also, we deleted his account on the iPad and tried to set it up again, same problem.

Cheers

These are the Telecom instructions, which as you can see from the above screen shot, is correct.

http://telecom.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2135/kw/setting%20up%20email%20on%20ipad

The user has told me that when he logs into his email at home there is no notification on his personal email account. The user has had uninterrupted access in the past. This is relatively new problem.

you might be pop blocked, especially if youve changed the password & have smart devices. Have you called telecom?

I have not called Telecom as it is a user at work who needs assistance, and as we provided the ipad, I need to provide assistance.

Going to try and convince the user to sign into web-mail (as he sues a client at home) so we can check his setting on there.  Just have to convince him that the world will not end by doing this.

Why don't you set it up as a normal pop/imap account, rather than using the yahoo option.
It is possible the yahoo option may not work with xtra, as it isn't exactly the same thing, and xtra doesn't provide IMAP either, only pop

Telecom and Yahoo have an agreement, so while they are technically not the same thing, they still use the same settings, I seems. I will try the other option though. See how it goes.

I've noticed that, although I haven't changed any settings, I can't seem to log on to Yahoo/Xtra mail from my iPhone 5 now. It tells me that the password is wrong or something. I've checked the password and it's still OK.

So, I'm using Sparrow now to check my mail, which is working fine.

That maybe true, but apple are a separate company altogether, and it is using apples own settings to achieve this. eg. It is trying to download the mailservers setttings, or using preconfigured ones, so you don't have to enter them yourself. This is supposed to save time. The problem will be related to apple. I always find email accounts a pain to setup on ios devices when you need to set them up manually, as it always has to first check the automatic settings which always fail to connect, before you can then set it up manually.

I set up mail on the "Other" option. It did not work - was told the incoming server is incorrect - checked telecom site, it is the right server... Sheesh.

Over ios

Fixed it!

https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?.partner=tnz&.intl=nz&.done=http://mail.yahoo.co.nz

Got him to sign into his web-mail and it just asked him to review his setting and what had access to his mail account.

Done, re-entered password and emails connected.

Cheers Guys

I hate to say it, but that is pretty much what the error message said to do.  Glad you got it solved...

I was hoping there was a way around it, as the user was pretty reluctant to sign into web-mail. But Like you said, sorted.

Signing into the webmail interface resets the pop block also though, so it might come up again (if the problem was indeed a pop block, which im not 100% sure of)

It does sound to me that the email address was one of the affected ones with the Yahoo hacking issue that has occurred. And that the account has locked after 3 failed logins. Logging into webmail unlocks it. Also, the built in Yahoo option does not work on affected addresses, you need to use Other. This applies to iOS
