A work of caution never seen/observed this before
My darling has a jailbroken iphone 4 the other day she upgraded TVNZ's app
Last night she went to watch something and the app refused to work stating the phone was jailbroken!!!
Very interesting

Yeah, TVNZ want to protect their content.
What about tv3.co.nz, they wanted to protect their content too, and so totally broke their streaming service.

Put her phone back in jail?

A lot of apps that have that kind of content will check if the phone is jailbroken and refuse to work on them. So any streaming apps could end up doing that to you.

Banking apps is another group of apps that will do this. Their reason is to secure you from trojans that could end up on your phone through apps in the jailbreak-sphere.

wrong - the media companies want to protect their content, TVNZ need to put "jailbreak = no go" to get rights to "broadcast" to your iphone

If you want to bypass this and also tweak things in other apps, download the jailbreak tweak 'Flex' from cydia

Haven't tested the ondemand app with it but did check and you could flag the 'isJailbroken' check to return False

I've seen apps detect a jailbreak in the past and then post a warning that they won't provide support for apps on jailbroken platforms, but I've never seen one flat out refuse to work because of it. I noticed that TVNZ one the other day too. Might roll back to a previous version if that works? (the app I mean)

Nice, I'll look into this now!

EDIT: Hmmm, it's a $4 US app though.... does anyone have it already? Skewt?  I'd be keen to find out if this works before actually spending a few bucks on it.

Sorry didn't notice the price went up. I got it when it was first released.
I couldn't see a prepublished tweak for it, and I have been working on creating my own but ran out of time

I have seen reports of xCon working fine with OnDemand so you could try that first
