It seems like TNT is not able to deliver to Ahuriri and the apartment I live in  See: TNT New Zealand for that story.

Is there anywhere else but Apple Store  I can buy an unlocked iPhone 5S? I won't be able to buy it on any kind of plan yet, so that is out of question.

Any good suggestions to where I can pick up an iPhone 5S unlocked and without any kind of plan attached would be greatly appreciated.

And like I mentioned, it seems like Apple store is out of the question since its next to impossible to get TNT to deliver where I live.

I think the short answer is no-where...yet.

Noel Leemings, DSE, Harveys etc will get it for outright sale, but it normally takes a few months.

Applenz have some serious explaining to do. It seems they want your money, but don't want to deliver.

I live in Orewa in a standard urban house, in a standard street. Waited all day and then see this crap come up on the screen.

DON'T BUY APPLE ONLINE!

They don't deliver.

Their customer service is non existent. Idiots, and nzcouriers who they now use are no better.

Well the 5s finally turned up this morning after sitting in NZ couriers North Shore center for 22hrs.

Longer than what it took to get on a flight from Hong kong, way to go TNT/NZC great work

Well, the problem is the currier that Apple uses to deliver in NZ. Hopefully it will go smoothly this time (for the delivery of the iPhone), but I would not bet any money on it going without a hitch.

Or you can go into telecom & sign up to their 24 month interest free plan, no term.

My wide did this, and the guy said you can pay the phone off as quickly as you like, so pay it off in a month, and it's yours without a term on your connection (wife went with $39 / mo plan)

I think your beef is mostly with TNT. For some reason they treat Orewa like it's in a different timezone.  And you lost all tracking ability once they inevitably hand off to NZ Couriers for 'rural' delivery.  Your best bet is to follow up with TNT directly. Having said that, apple was great with sorting it out last time I did call them.  One would think that it would proactively happen as soon as TNT states that they aren't sure where orewa is anymore though ...

I don't think it will be too long before they are available outright from stores in NZ. I think last time (for the iPhone5) it was about 2 weeks after Apple started delivering them. apple are delivering now, so my guess is that in a couple of weeks Voda and Telecom will OK outright sales and the Retailers will then be able to sell them.

It is currently not the retailer (HN, JB, NL DSE) that chooses when they go outright, it is the Telco.

I love how the retailers are selling the 5 at the same cost as the 5s - I wonder how many people they catch out.

Yeah, that's a bummer, but they will have had stock (which they purchased at the full price) that they have to move on.
Apple wont do price protection, as the 5 is discontinued.
